    Scratches in Glock Barrel

Click the image to see a bigger picture.

I've noticed the glock barrel has scratches (inside) near the end of the barrel. Is this normal for glocks to have this? I put 50 rounds through the glock and noticed it when cleaning. I'm sure it doesnt affect the gun... i hope not, but wouldnt hurt to ask the community.

FMJ. The cleaning rod that came with the gun. My friend checked his brand new glock and said he had it too.

So i'm assuming its normal. :\

Also, it goes along with the rifling. Its not scratch straight down the barrel.

Don't worry about it boss. Just remember to not use the brush in the opposite direction of the barrel rifling.

Also, if those were deep grooves going straight down or against the rifling, then it's time to be worried. That a special edition EXO Glock?

Also, push the brush in from the chamber side not the muzzle side, to prevent damaging the crown.

Don't worry it will not affect anything. If its new with just 50 rounds maybe its just from the factory. Fmj copper jackets are too soft to do it and even if there was some piece of sand on the bullet, by the time it got to the muzzle it would be turning at the same rate as the rifling. The plastic glock cleaning brush is way to soft to scratch, unless you got sand or some kind of grit on it. It will affect nothing, just shoot it and be happy!

Pics aren't good enough to tell anything.

You probably aren't cleaning it well. The brush that comes with it sucks. Get a real copper brush and a good cleaning kit, using a good solvent. Stay away from froglube.

You'll want to figure out if there actually is something wrong ASAP. I can't tell from the pics, and highly doubt there is a real issue other than improper cleaning. That said, if there is an issue with the barrel, it could be extremely dangerous to shoot it.

The scratches are what the FBI uses to "fingerprint" your bullets!

My Glock barrel looks like that too after about 100 rounds and I haven't cleaned it. As long as it doesn't affect accuracy, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is as accurate as I can shoot it.

Here's a fun fact that I discovered, and should have been obvious...

If you use a copper/bronze/brass cleaning brush and you use a cleaner that cleans off copper fouling .... your brush will get smaller and smaller if you don't clean it off! You are dissolving your brush! LOL, took me some time to figure this one out! Hey! This brush doesn't fit very well anymore! Ha ha!
