Everybody is talking about the theoretical kaboom from leading... has anyone seen any documented cases of it actually happening? I haven't looked.

Did Glock put 5,000 lead rounds through one of their test barrels, have it fail and now warn against lead rounds because of one failure? Just curious. CYA?

At the moment, I don't shoot lead out of any of my guns, mainly because I'm lazy and hate to clean out lead fouling.

It is not a factory CYA issue. At one time I thought it was too, it's not.

I can't explain the reason behind the 'no cast bullets thru a factory Glock barrel, but I have had a Firearms examiner explain it to me a few years ago.

The professional shooters I know don't do it. It must be nice to have all that money.

        This cracked me up.

I shoot lead, but not in my new glock. I've fought for years to find the recipe for no fouling, and meh it still takes forever to get the lead out of the barrels. Scrubbing with chor boy over a brush just gets old.

I still have a few thousand ,, uhhh maybe like 5,000 lead bullets to shoot up. If it gets to that I'll buy a new barrel for the glock, just cuz.

          glock dies from lead poisoning

A co-worker of mine bought a new glock in 10mm back in the early 90's and about all he could talk about was how great his new glock was .
He was very experienced shooter with 1911's and revolvers and reloaded his own ammo . He after owning the gun for a few weeks he came to work one Monday morning with a bandage on his shooting hand and explained how his new glock had blown up in his hand . He sent the gun (pieces) back to glock for analysis and they deemed the failure was from shooting lead bullets which voided his warranty . He admitted to putting lead bullets thru the gun against the manufacturers warning but he explained to me it shouldn't make any difference lead or jacketed .

Since we are adding personal experience to help build data, I have shot 500 rounds of black hills 180gr swc lead bullets through my stock Glock 21sf barrel. I did it all in one day in about 3 hours of shooting and would mix in a jacketed bullet here and there to help "clean out" any lead that might have accumulated.

Worked just fine. Since then though I have added a Barsto barrel to the gun I shoot lead out of so as to have zero worries about it.
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Don't listen to this guy. I had a G35 KB in my hand after 40 rounds. The barrel was severely leaded.

Lots of people said it would be ok, agreed with my loads, and were nowhere to be found after that happened.

I heard Glocks double as hand grenades if you load them full of lead bullets and throw them at thy foe.

the myth of lead bullets blowing up blocks just won't die.

Calteacher is 100% correct. Properly loaded lead reloads are safe in glocks period!

I own and shoot every caliber in glock guns that they make with lead reloads. Have shot over 250,000 rounds collectively. I use bear creek moly coat lead bullets.

Make your own decision what you want to shoot. Its your gun.

How accurate were the lead ammo through your glock22? Did you see any bullet tumbling?

As accurate as any ammunition can be. No tumbling. All were 180gr. I've seen bullets tumble out of Glocks, but they were all 147's from 9mm's that were either pushed too hard, or too slow. They were likely inappropriately sized for the barrel as well. I had a hell of a time getting 147's to shoot from my P226 years ago without tumbling.

                              180gr @ 940 fps.

Missouri Bullet in case anyone was wondering.
