    Cajun Gun Works

Just want to say that I just picked up my first handgun last night, a CGW modified CZ P01 and brought it out to a local range about 10 mins later. I was having some trouble with light strikes on my ammo that apparently has hard primers. I just got off the phone with the folks @ CGW to see what they recommend. They instantly had hammer spring suggestions for me and didn't even go for an upsell. In fact, I was told that I didn't need some of the products they offered for what I'm doing right now. Great service, can't wait to find a manual safety 75b so that I can give them more business. I'll definitely be a repeat customer!

CGW is pretty great. Congrats on the upgraded P01 - what a great shooter.

Shoot some federal ammo to see if that helps (since Fed primers are more sensitive). I know my SP-01 (with CGW springs) will not ignite non-Federal primers with any consistency.

Yea, I contacted the previous owner and he told me the same about Federal. I'd follow that rule, except I just bough 1200rds of herters brass.

I heard that Herters brass are made by Sellier and Bellot which do have hard primers.

Light primer strike is no bueno. No experience with CGW myself, but they seem to have a good/great reputation.

Get 'er dialed in and post a range report!

Wait a second. Would the gun eat anything before the mods? My 75BD eats any-frikkin-ammo, and I would like to send it there for some trigger/FO sight upgrades. I won't have to shoot specific ammo will I?

Depends what spring wieght, and if you opt for the extended firing pin or not.

Also don't forget to get a lighter firing pin spring to match.

sent from my damn tappy device...

What work did CGW do to your sp01 and how much? I'm looking to get my SP01 polished up. Also check KYGunCo.com for CZ's. They have a CZ-75B instock last time I checked.

                    Correct, it is re-boxed S&B

Will do! I had a tracking number probably 20 mins after making this post.

The PO put in the lightest spring kit possible that was calibrated for a soft primer. He does his own reloading so it wasn't that big of an issue for him. I ordered two different hammer springs to try out. The first is 11.5lbs and I'm told will be good for 95% of the ammo out there and give me a DA pull of around 7lbs. The second is a 13lb spring and will set off any primer with a DA pull of 8-8.5lbs.

I don't have the SP, just the P but I believe the triggers are similar. From what I'm told the PO put in:
                    CGW DA hammer
                    solid firing pin retainer pin
                    lightened trigger spring
                    short reset trigger
                    hardened trigger spring
                    dawson precision front sight
and he polished the action himself

I have small fingers, so I'm also thinking of putting in the reduced reach trigger. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to start keeping an eye out. I'm honestly more of a long gun person and there's a few more I want to pick up before the end of the year. I mainly got a pistol because I'm admittedly a HORRIABLE shot with one and really want to get better.

It depends on if you are talking about the standard SP01, which is not like the p01, or the SP01 Tactical, which is nearly identical to the p01.
