    Kimber

So I finally put a Stainless Kimber TLE RL II in jail yesterday.

For all you Kimber owners, is there a favorite mod you perform?

    Thanks!

Congrats...My Favorite is the Raptor II Series. I have the 3", 4" & 5" in my opinion the nicest best guns they produce.

I also have a Pro Carry II, Sold my Custom II, regret it.

There is a member selling a Raptor II here for $1,000 a Great Deal for a Beautiful and accurate gun.

Not sure there is a favorite mod for me, but I just replaced the MSH with Ed Brown Chainlink and the trigger with a short trigger. I also replaced the grips with slim grips.

        Congrats!

replaced the plastic MSH with an Ed Brown grooved/arched housing. all my 1911's get this treatment, fits my hand like a glove...

if there are funds to spare, switch the trigger out to a shorter trigger, like a fusion "k" trigger. but the MSH is a must for me.

congrats!! im looking forward to putting a tle/rl in jail sometime soon as well!

Replace the mainspring housing for one with a mag well, and buy some Tripp Cobra mags.

Clean and reoil your gun first, then shoot several hundred rounds. The TLE's are good to go as it is.

I'd like to replace the MSHs with one from Fusion. The Fusion was recommended to me as close to " drop in " as can be on Kimbers, and my friend was right. I tried Smith & Alexander, Wilson, and Ed Brown but the Fusion was the real drop-in fit on my 2 Kimbers.

I am fond of aftermarket grips and had some cocobolos, VZ's, and polymer faux Ivory grips, BUT the original Kimber rubber grips is the most comfortable. In terms of looks, the dark-colored cocobolos are tops----for me.

I didn't mod my Kimber TLE II. It shoots great as it is. Just get some mags and ammo and you'll be good to go.

I have the same without rail.
After lots of reading, the Ed Brown main spring housing/mag well was ordered. It fits as promised. No fitting required. Don't forget loctite. Now the only detail I would love someone to solve for me would be make grips that don't have that bevel on the bottom. It would look better to have grips butt right up against mag well edge. I still love the look and feel with the mag well so ill live with the bevel issue.
                    Enjoy!

There are many grips that are designed for 1911's with magwells - VZ grips, Kimber grips, etc. My favorites are the ones I ordered from Ahrends, which were kind of custom made to my liking.

Below are pics of such grips

I saw a Kimber Team Match 45acp today at High Bridge in San Francisco today. Anyone have any experience shooting this gun and can you compare to the TLE II? Thanks!

I think the Team Match II is biased more for action (competition shooting) due to the adjustable sight and magwell funnel, while the TLEs are biased more for tactical use due to the fixed Meprolight Night Sights.

Inherent accuracy (barrel manufacture) they are just about equal. Trigger pull weight should be about the same.

                          Hope this helps.

I would change the trigger, the grips, the MSH, the hammer, and add a magwell. Those are the standard mods for my medium grade 1911's.

The Team Match II has a few more fitted parts and the sights are set up for competitive shooting, IE they are adjustable. However, the barrel isnt better than the TLE II. IIRC, the only guns that Kimber makes with a better barrel are the Super Match II and the Grand Raptor

I've put 2000+rounds through my stock TLE before doing anything.

Few things I've done over time.
-Ed Brown 80s Firing Pin Stop "Slight fitting required"
-Wilson Combat MSH 30x20 LPI "Fitting required/added weight balances out platform perfectly"
                              -Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Extractor
-Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Slide Stop
-Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Mag Catch
-Wilson Combat Bullet Proof A-2 Sear
                              -Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Disconnector
                              -C&S Light Sear Spring
                              -10-8 Flat Trigger "Fitting required"
                              -G.I. Thumb Safety "Fitting Required"

*With Stock Hammer, my TLE breaks at 4 LBs and reset is superb. Not bad at my first attempt at a trigger job/project. Every 1911 is unique, your mileage may vary.

                              Pictures should be self explanatory.
