    Vector Arms MP5 Pistol

Altantic Firearms offers two MP5 Pistol Clones from Vector Arms on their website that can make CA legal. Both for over $2K.

Anybody have any experience with these things?

I've run AR Pistols before, and know how useless they are without the control you get from a stock - but I just can't help wanting one of these things. I've always wanted an MP5 and would rather go the pistol route than add an extended barrel.

I really shouldn't spend the money. Have more important uses for it. But man oh man am I tempted.

Good thing I can't make up my mind on which one I want more or I probably would have already bought one. That and I have to wait 30 (actually 26) before I can DROS another handgun. Just bought a Glock 26 9mm pistol.

OPTION 1 The "K" Variant (more expensive)

    OPTION 2 The Standard Variant

These potentially get effected by two bills on the Governors desk. The proposed change in the definition of a detchable/fixed magazine would make them an AW and the proposed restrictions on the purchasing of non-rostered handguns makes them difficult to legally buy as well.

So there is a risk if that we don't buy one now we might not be able to in the future.

I know, call/fax/write the Governor and ask him to veto the anti-gun bills. I have, am, and will continue to do so.

Get the K for a pistol version imho. Theres really nothing the standard variant can do that the shorter K variant can't do in a smaller and slightly lighter package. I own a couple SP89's I keep out of state along with a r.a.w. HK94.

A stocked carbine is more practical for range use than either pistol variant in California but you do need to run a fake suppressor or MP5SD shroud to make them look right.

Hard to justify at over $2k but if I could, I'd get the K version. Good luck

I think I am leaning towards the K version myself. Except the SureFire Forend would look pretty cool on the Standard Version.

Get yourself a proper single point sling and that K variant will be g2g.

Whatever you get, Atlantic won't send you a magazine so you gotta find them yourself as a headsup.

Was eyeing the K myself - its awesome for sure. Are there HK smiths that can help you if you ever run into problems in your area?

44mag.com will ship rebuild kits (but they run $100 a pop). HKpro has 10 round limiters (not sure the price).

No idea about HK experienced gunsmiths.

100 bucks a mag? Yeah I was really thinking about it but seems a lot of hassle with a lot of risk if run into a weapons complication.

The Sig MPX would have been perfect but no chance of that in CA now.

Though the K version shown is neat, it's not really a true K version. It's using a metal version of an MP5 A1 back cap which uses a single pin to keep in place along with a standard MP5 grip housing. The model shown is a reverse stretch K model with a slightly longer receiver than a true K that several makers have been offering. They're still hard to come by though, so if you can, grab it.

Are the Getz Reverse Stretch as well? Not that I fully understand the difference.

The recent photo of the Getz version above is correct to the original K models, or SP-89 since it has that type of handguard. It uses two small pushpins to hold the flat backcap on and the receiver is a little shorter if you look at it closely. I owned an SP-89 about 22 years ago and I just used a single-point sling attached to the backcap and would pull it out away from me to steady it when using the sights. It worked pretty well.
