Help me pick some 38 ammo

Just picked up a nice S&W 642 from a fellow calgunner, so far I really like the feel and compactness of this gun, I like it way better than the LCR that I had and it feels smaller.

Anyway, I need to find some SD ammo for it, I really don't like super light bullets but sont want to make it heavy either. Something around 125 grain for a short barrel revolver, what's the best stuff out there that you CAN GET? +P is fine also.

    Thanks, Mike

148 gr. wadcutters should do the trick. Think about your neighbors as well should the bullets go beyond the threat.

Speer +p gold dots. Its a proven bullet designed to expand when it hits the target. Less chance of over penetration but still has plenty of power to get through heavy clothing that the BG may be wearing. Its all I use in my LCR.

I don't have a lot of confidence with jacketed bullets expanding at .38 special velocity, my vote would go for some 158 LSWCHP, if you can find them.

That's what I use in my snubbies. This round will have pretty stout recoil in a 642, though.

            I use the Federal version.
