What's the average distance ...

between you and the target? We're talking handguns now not rifles. I'm currently at 10 yd. Giving it 2 more trips to the range and I'll move up to 15 yd.

I think it depends on the target. I use this one:


I do alright (not great) if I shoot the big circle in the middle at 15 yards. But for the smaller circle I'm not very confident so I bring the target back to 10 yards when I start shooting those.

I just ordered a Laserlyte trainer though, hopefully it'll help improve my trigger control enough that I can start shooting those smaller circles at 15 years or beyond.

I think its 10 and 15 like your doing. Sometimes try the 25 too, just to see what your capable of with a hand gun.

i shoot between 10-15 yrds, 25yrds for fun to see how i can do and im okay, all in the target not as tight as id like. when im on blm land 12 inch gong at 100yrds im able to hit 4-5 of 8 when i had my kimber.

I use a 3X5 card from 5 yards to 25 yards where it gets tough to keep on or around the card with practice ammo, but possible when my fundamentals are good.

Rarely past ten yards. When I want to make it challenging I use a smaller target.

I learned at 15 yards. The new range I joined has all distances out to 50 yards, so I've tried 7 yards to 25 yards.

I shoot anywhere from 5ft to 25 yards, but I don't get out to 25 all that often. Yesterday was the first time in a while. I will go out that far when I want to practice slow, accurate shots.

Its kind of fun to warm up at 25 yards with slow shots, then accelerate a little, then move down to like 10yds. The target seems huge then.

Depends on what I am doing it for. Defensive practice, 7 yards, target, 25, plinking, out to 75 with a dot, scoped .44 mag. handgun, out to 100-150 yards.

Oh man! this is embarrasing. After seeing all different target sizes, I think I will stay between 5 & 10 yd for a while and hone my aim better.

Here I am chest sticking out and proudly sending pictures to friends and getting ready for 15 yd only to find out that I'm full of air!

I prefer to practice from 7-10 yards, because I can see my hits at that range and can adjust my sight picture until I am hitting where I want to be.

I will shoot my steel targets out to 25 yards, its a hit or miss game, not going for tiny groups.
