    Laserlyte 9mm trainer

I'm thinking of getting the Laserlyte 9mm trainer cartridge and their Reaction Tyme trainer. Does anyone here use these products? Are they any good?

I'm hoping this product will help me iron out my lousy trigger squeeze technique, I've noticed that my aim sometimes shifts a little just before I complete the squeeze. I have to really focus on not doing that and if I do I hit well, but if I try to squeeze off rounds just a little faster or don't concentrate I tend to shoot low.

I got one about 2 months ago. Works great as visual aid to see trigger pull affecting shot placement. However, quality-wise, it isn't great. After about 1000 fires, activation switch (where the firing pin strikes it) is messed up. It'll either stay on or not register sometimes - kinda bummed about it after dropping 80 bucks into it..

I don't have the cartridge style laser, mine is the Universal one, more like a bore sight.
The common complaint with the cartridge style seems to be that the "snap cap rubber / switch" gets pushed in and stops working.
The one that is like a bore sight works on sound rather than contact with the firing pin, and works in multiple calibers. You can use snap caps with it if you want.
However it is not fully flush so drawing from a holster might be an issue depending on your draw motion.
Never follow the advice of Calguns Addicts,
They clearly don't know what they are talking about.

I use three Laserlyte targets with my 9mm cartridge and it provides many different target scenarios. The system really works well for Me.

The cartridge itself is abut $85.00 AND the good news is that Laserlyte will sell you the rear end of the cartridge for about $10.00 !!! After replacing the rear end of the cartridge , you essentially have a new cartridge. Laserlyte told me that the rear end of the cartridge needs to be replaced after 3000 shots.

My only wish is that Laserlyte comes out with a 22lr cartridge or laser to stick in the end of a revolver. It's inconceivable to me that the 22lr market hasn't been addressed !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info, I'll try the cartridge laser first and if it burns out like echopapa said, I'll get the universal one (didn't realize that's an option, thanks).

Cool...the cartridge durability was a little worrying, good to hear it can be replaced.

My Laserlyte arrived today, what a fun and useful product! As I suspected earlier, my trigger control sucks. I'm somehow moving slightly when I press the trigger, this product definitely showed me that.

I bought the 9mm cartridge laser which requires that you insert the trainer cartridge into your pistol's chamber. I was a little worried continuous firing might make it difficult to remove later so I put some Frog Lube on it. Probably not required but the cartridge was easily removed after I've finished playing with it.

I used this with my Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm, which was easy to use with because I can simply cock the hammer to fire, and I can choose between single or double action trigger pull. I've never noticed this in the range, but oddly enough, I seems more accurate with the double action trigger pull. I think the heavier trigger pull somehow had me focus more on keeping my hand stable and it showed in accuracy.

This product allows me to do things I would otherwise not be able to, or too concerned to try at the indoor range: firing from kneeing position, firing one-handed and firing with left hand (just for the heck of it...) etc.

I've also found that you can hang the target at entry locations, at approximately human chest height, and practice shooting from your barricade position for home defense practice.

As a bonus, it is much easier to train my wife using this product at home rather than the noisy indoor range. She won't be distracted by other shooters blasting away and can concentrate on her grip, sight picture and trigger etc.

My only gripe is that the Reaction Tyme target does not show you where your shot landed. I hope they'll release a version that will show where my shot landed when it flashes the beep beep hit signal. They have another product, Lyte Bright, which does show where your shots landed but it requires you hit the "Display" part before it does so. I want a target that displays the shot and keep it displayed until I reset the target. Hopefully they'll release a version like that.

In any case, highly recommended if you own a handgun.

I use Rangemaster SRS with my LaserLyte cartridge. It has worked pretty well for me. And it will keep track of all your shots.

I have the Reaction Tyme and .45 cartridge setup. I've had it a few weeks but practice with it several times a week. I haven't had any issues with the back, I use it mostly for reflexive fire and differing shooting positions. I love it!

I like the system. I have the reaction tyme targets. They are 4"h x 3"w outside dimension. I figure from 15 yards if I am consistent that is sufficient.
I am selling my Laserlyte LT Pro. I like to use snap caps and it does not fit into the barrel of my subcompacts.
Thanks for the information on replacing the cartridge piece. Good to know!

I got my set for Christmas (the bore sighted type one) and its a great tool, only complaint is drawing from holster it tends to fall out of the end of the barrel

I like training with them. I have a 9mm and 45acp. The 45acp arrived messed up and laserlyte fixed it without problem (mailed a new tail cap to me).
