Index finger to release mag. Sling shot slide when locked back. This works best for me.

Lefty Glock user here also. Like others have mentioned already... I also use my middle finger to drop the mags and index (trigger finger) knuckle to lock the slide to the rear with no mag. I run Trijicon HD sights with orange fronts and a Vickers extended slide lock lever. The Vickers extended slide lock lever is a must for lefty Glock users in my opinion.

I use the knuckle on my pointer finger to work the slide release for locking the slide back. Once reloaded, I slingshot the slide to put it back into battery. You can also lock the slide back by racking the slide Israeli style, and using your right thumb to work the slide release.

I use my pointer finger to also hit the mag release. There's really no need to change anything on a glock for a lefty.

I have a plain stock Glock 19 and run it just fine as a left hander. Like others have said, just release the magazine with your middle finger. Other than that your good to go, buy plenty of ammo and have fun.

I've been trying the above method as well instead of switching hands. Nice clean technique without much gun or body movement once you find the good position for the right thumb.

I would get an extended mag release as mentioned. You can file the ext. mag release down a little if needed. The stock ext. mag release rubbed against my middle finger two much.

As a lefty, I had a tendency to drop the left thumb directly over the mag release on the right side while releasing a mag. This would stop the magazine from being released. I have small hands and have to move my grip to get good purchase on the mag release so I concentrate on keeping my thumb "high" even if I need to re-grip.

Lefty here too. G19 G4 is my carry. I think everyone above has covered pretty much everything. Go shoot and shoot, and shoot some more. You will find what works or you.

Another lefty here who loves Glocks. I do as others have said for regular functions. One modification I did to my Glocks is install an extended slide stop release. They are cheap and easy to install. That little extention it has sure helps. Dont put any extended mag release buttons on it because it will just get in the way of your trigger finger. Good choice by the way... http://www.midwayusa.com/product/799...del-steel-blue

YupYup...Same here as every other Lefty Glock owner. To be honest I had to think about how I do these procedures because I no longer have to think on how to do it. It just comes natural now. I guess it's true...Practice, practice, practice.

As a left handed shooter and a competitive shooter since 1994 and a Glocker, I always use my trigger finger for mag release. It's a very good practice to do, because trigger finger is always away from the trigger. No accidental discharge to happen when doing mag changes.

The only part you really need is the extended slide release lever.

Here's what I did to my Gen 3 Glock 19, just a couple of weeks ago:

Stippled the frame and grip. Installed the newest Trijicon HD night sights. Rounded and taken out the sharp edges of the mag release. Replaced slide release to an extended one. And did a trigger job.

When it's daytime it is bright orange and becomes green when it's dark.

Nice and tall sights which makes it a faster target acquisition!

                    The finished G-19!

                    Enjoy!

Congrats! I'm a righty but my cousin is a lefty and loves my Glocks still.

No real advice to give but don't be shocked when you shoot low left your first couple times. Glocks tend to do that till you learn the grip/trigger.

                        Interesting thread.

During our Thanksgiving lunch, my cousin's boyfriend asked if he could check out my Glock. Turns out he is joining the LAPD and never held nor shot a firearm before. I let him fondle my G19 Gen3 "with snap caps of course", and introduced him the basic Handgun 101 fundamentals. He is a lefty, so it was goofy to watch at first.

My first glock is a G19 Gen3. I am positive your two magazines came with the 2183 Followers. They feed round nose ammo all day no problem, but as 10 rounders the 2183 followers are known to cause Failure to Feed with hollow points. This usually happens on the last round. No bueno.

Call Glock and ask them to send you the new 9mm #3 followers for free. It takes less then 3 minutes, you'll get them in a week. I am going to the range tomorrow to run a few boxes of quality defensive rounds for the first time with the new followers.

Yea well, I'm a lefty but I shoot right handed. Have ever since I was a kid. Same with rifle. Practice, you may be fine.

Seems to be an inordinate number of lefty Glock 19 owners in this forum, myself included. When I went through training, a quarter of my class was lefty, which threw the range staff the first day.

Tell your cousin-in-law NOT to change anything on his weapons from right to left, even if his armorer allows it. If there is something funnier than watching a lefty do something, it's seeing the face of a righty realize there's no mag release where he's expecting it. However, this is not a face I want to see if I'm incapacitated and my partner has to grab my weapon.

This is what Glock recommends as well. For everyone else: the slide lock wasn't designed as a slide release. While it may work, under duress, it may not.
