Just picked up some Hornady ZombieMax (aka Critical Duty) JHP for la pistola.

Loaded up both magazines with 10rds. Insert, rack, awesome. Drop magazine, top off, go to insert into magwell... Won't go all the way to "click" position...

WTF???

I had to remove the 10th round to get it to fit. Is this normal?

Just top it off and give it a good smack. It should seat with a little force. Some guns just have really tight tolerances. If its meant to hold 10+1 you're not going to hurt anything by smacking it in there.

Does the "problem" lie within the new mag springs? or is it just a tight fit with all glocks, regardless of age/usage?

G30 mags are known for tight Springs. I loaded mine up with 10 & left them loaded for a week or so, hand cycled them a few dozen times each & they were much easier to use after that. Loading to 10+1 in a G30 seems to always be REALLY tight with a new gun.

Make sure you hit the mag hard with your purse to get it seated.

I still have a few glock 30 mags that won't hold 10 rounds, the ones that do ate really tight and inserting mag does take more effort. Racking the slide and just letting go on that top round, you can tell it goes slowly forward

Hey at least you can get 10 in the mag. I have 2 G27 mags with Glock +1 extensions on them that I can barely get 9 rounds into. For me it just seem like Glock mags have stronger springs than any other brand I have owned.

Some, especially new magazines have tough springs and you really need to fight to get them to maximum capacity, but it can be done with a little bit of determination. Once the springs are broken in (over time) it will be easier to load and unload them.

As other have said, just put the magazine in the mag well, and slap it in hard.
