    Magazine blocking woes

I just finished the 10-day wait for my first gun, an FNH FNX-9. Came with 3 rebuild kits for 17 rounders, I've been trying to find 10-rounders but no luck so far

Can anyone point me in a direction where I might be able to score a few 10-rounders,

Or perhaps someone has experience modifying standard-cap pistol magazines to comply with this troublesome law? I don't have easy accessibility to a machine shop or welding rig or anything, I can get epoxy and whatever else may be at a hardware store but not looking to buy a whole shop just to get three rebuild kits converted.

Hopefully I didn't miss something obvious
    Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, there isn't a manufactured 10rd magazine block for the Fnx.

The only way would be to find a shop who could block it for you either by rivet, block, or rivet/epoxy.

    Congrats on the purchase.

      Thanks!

I did a search around the web and it seems, if only for a very short time, they had 10 rounders available- someone in another state a few months back got 3 10 rounders and was asking about the viability of converting them to standard 17 rounders. He already sold them to another buyer though.

Sounds like I'll need to find a shop to help me out- happen to know any in the Bay Area?

go to home depot and buy a 20 dollar rivet gun or Harbor Freight and check youtube on how to proceed..You can do it yourself and save a few bucks

This company has 10 round limiters for many mags. They send parts (follower,... ) and you install. Prices are reasonable.

I just got my XD 40 out of captivity and it has 12 round rebuild kits.
I found factory 10 round mags on Midway but they don't have any FNH FNX-9 10 round mags in stock. Also expensive.

OP, for now, you need to buy a rivet gun.
I'm going home and rivet my 12 rounders up as 10 round before I assemble them and insert into the pistol. If the ban ever goes into effect I have two factory 10 rounders shipping to me as I type.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't high cap mags for handguns legit to use after reassembly?

I found all my standard capacity mags in the desert.

But to the OP's question, haven't people just used a small piece of wood and epoxied it in?

I agree with the small piece of wood or plastic and put it in. Make it long then load and cut until 10 rounds. Once you have the right size on the first you can quickly cut as many as you need.

If you're near Laguna, I believe the guys from OC Armory does mag blocks for your gun, $6/ magazine.

to the OP, owning or possessing standard capacity magazines is not illegal. i believe the troublesome law you are referring to states that manufacturing, importing, and selling is illegal. BUT not possession/ownership.

the bill that would have outlawed possession of magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds seems to be dead at the moment (although some have said it can be resurrected before the year is out, but not likely).

Who's to say you didn't find it in the desert, range, etc?

You could say you were ignorant of the law...had possession of assemble standard mags for the last three years...now it's exempt.

Are these legitimate reason why you now legally own them?

There are no factory 10 round FNX/FNP/FNS magazines.
Like the post above, you'd have to rig your own...

How did you do your safe handling demo after your ten day wait?
