First off, I really have to admire your shooting ability.

A friend and I helped usher in IPSC E. of the Mississippi back in '81. We supposedly had the largest or 2nd largest eastern club at that time in Lou KY. It is still running. I can appreciate your ability to put'em on target in minimal time.

I'm doing BE now and our club smith was doing a Springfield RO for a guy down under and did some Ransom Rest work before shipping. Under 2" @ 50yds for 10 handloaded shots and NO frame, bushing or bbl work done. Talk about a keeper.

I truly enjoyed your documented journey with yours. Well done, Sir.

        Stupid question.

If the front strap checkering is too aggressive, as I often read, why not just slightly flatten the points with a metal file, sand paper, or dremel?

You could. Personally once I got used to it, I really like the 20 LPI checkering.

Im bring this back from the dead. Is there any updates? I am thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these next month.

I've been shooting "Limited" lately so the TM has been spending a lot of time in the safe. I'm up to 13,478 rounds through it so far, no additional problems, it just keeps chugging along.

Is it just me or does the U-notch on the blade of the rear sights a bit too small? It makes quick acquisition harder for me, I am thinking of maybe filing it to get more light through but that already sounded like a bad idea in my head. Overall I might have to just change out the sights for something with a bigger notch.

The rear notch is a little small. My solution was to replace the front site with a thinner one from Dawson.

That makes sense, but I also don't like my front sights to be too thin in fear of breaking. Thinking of replacing my rear sight with a Kensight speed sight but those can be pricey...
