So there's someone trying to sell me a handgun with a threaded barrel, would I be able to ppt it still or maybe ppt it without a barrel? Or is this guy just an undercover trying to set me up?

handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the
barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or
her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.

Unless it has a fixed magazine it is most likely an Assault Weapon.
There are many things that you can be charged for with having an AW:
Mere possession (assembled) is a crime.
Exposing for sale is a crime.
Transportation is a crime.
To name a few.
PPT needs the barrel to do the safe handling demo which is required by law. Unless you are an exempt person.
Are you sure the barrels threads have not been permanently covered with a protector or a muzzle device?Comment

Really? The OP hasn't even hinted that the handgun in question is a semi auto.Unless it has a fixed magazine it is most likely an Assault Weapon.

It's not a .22, and is a semi auto, it's an fnx 45. So 22 are allowed to have threaded barrels?
Just asking cause of this.. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=823254Comment

That guy is an idiot for posting that M&P. it is an assault weapon. Period. There is no exception for rimfire pistols. Several years ago Walther had to recall P22 pistols because they were "threaded".
Your FNX is no go with a threaded barrel...

Figured, the price is like at 980 which is really cheap for an fnx, probably a sting operation. That guy is an idiot for posting that M&P. it is an assault weapon. Period. There is no exception for rimfire pistols. Several years ago Walther had to recall P22 pistols because they were "threaded".

There is no difference between centerfire and rimfire when it comes to CA handgun AW laws.
Could the gun in question have a "fixed magazine"? If so, it would be legal in CA.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Key words in my post: most likely.
It was an assumption based on the nature of the question.
And it turned out to be a correct one.
No 22 / rimfire pistols are not exempt. It's not a .22, and is a semi auto, it's an fnx 45. So 22 are allowed to have threaded barrels?

The author of that thread is technically committing multiple felonies by having it and exposing it for sale..
See the penal code hossb7 posted above.
Which is now PC 30515.
Unlike rifles where it says semiautomatic centerfire rifles.
Pistols say semiautomatic pistol so it includes both centerfire and rimfire.
Stay away from the FNX45 being offered to you unless:
Has a fixed magazine
Or
Threads have been made fixed by a permanently attached protector or muzzle device.
Or
It rendered not semi automatic (not really a good option)
Or
Get a replacement barrel and have the current owner swap it out before he takes it to the FFL (to avoid transporting an AW) (Risky, time consuming option)Comment

LOL. He pulled the add for the 45 and left the M&P 22 with a threaded barrel up.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
