I'm interested in it. Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm in the S.F. bay area so I'm guessing I'd compete at the Richmond Rod & Gun range. Would a stock G17 be good for starting out? Let me know fella's. Thanks.

Anyone compete in GSSF?
Tags: None -
From what I have read and heard, there are at least two competitions wherein you need your Glock to be stock. In fact, I will be trying it out for the first time this November and will be using my stock G17.
Good luck to both of us! It should be fun. Lookup some videos. One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale

I dont recall any events that require a stock glock. Every major match has a separate class for modified firearms. GSSF is no different.
There's basically two classes - civilian (stock guns) and competition (modified guns). There's subdivisions of those as well for youth, law enforcement, frame size such as heavy metal or sub compact.
If you want to shoot your limited or open glock you can. BUT limited and open class shooters are grouped together.Last edited by Dooder; 09-14-2013, 10:30 AM.Man, this place has gone bonkers.Comment

I've shot one. I used a G19 in the amateur civilian class. Not as exciting as IDPA, but the plates were the best part. You know where you are? You're in the jungle baby.... You're gonna.............................................Comment

OP, pretty much anyone can shoot in a GSSF match. One of the nice facets of GSSF is that it's shot static... that is, you don't have to run and gun. That puts mobility challenged folks like ol' gimpy me on the same footing as everyone else.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

Summer is in Norco and Fall is at Piru November 2 & 3
There's also indoor league shoots at LAX through out the year

I'm a member but have not gotten around the the competitions. I really should. The discount coupon on the Glock was nice. Finally cashed one in today. Glock 26 9mm. It is a good organization worth supporting even without the freebies.Comment

Many people don't think about this but the GSSF membership is also CMP affiliated. Join up in both clubs and order up some Garands!
