Judge type revolvers

Are the Judge type revolvers illegal in California? This is for out of state people traveling through or visiting (camping) in California.

They meet the CA definition of a short barreled shotgun, thus are generally illegal here (there are ways, but they all cost way more than the gun is worth).

Yes, illegal even for passing through or visiting or whatever. Total ban in CA on short barrel shotguns and these revolvers qualify as such. It would be the same as bringing what CA calls an "Assault Weapon" into the state. Felony.
