    .45 muzzle carbon

I noticed there was a lot of carbon on the muzzle of my HK45 after about a 100 rounds of WWB. Is it normal on all .45's? My 9mm never did that even with 300 round sessions.

I don't know if it's normal on all .45's but my M&P .45 has a lot of carbon after a 100 rounds of WWB. I use Frog Lube though and it wipes off pretty easily.

        More powder, more carbon. Normal.

You must have a tainted batch of ammo, send it to me for proper disposal.

I was a bit shocked after shooting my .45 for the first time, especially compared to my 9mm, and, my .45 has a stainless slide. However, with Frog Lube, it wiped right off

Yep, same here. Happens to my .45 ACP barrels and Frog Lube helps. I also use Rem Oil for first level of cleaning and followed up by Frog Lube, dry patch, bore snake and a nice scrub on the crown.

                Good luck. Not unusual.

+1 on Frog Lube. Makes cleaning a enjoyable experience.

Yeah same thing happens with my G21. .45 acp just has more powder, and therefor more carbon.

try shooting some non jacked non plated bullets, you will get some major buildup of carbon and lube.

Happens every time with my 1911. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for all the replies. It's my first .45. I'm use to 9mm since that's what I've owned throughout. Makes sense but wasn't quite expecting all that carbon in 100 rounds.
