    Hard use 1911

HI, I'm looking for an on roster 1911 that can be put through hard use. No safe queen, nothing super pretty. No stainless.. and no RIA (rock island armory).

    Needs

    1. Removable sights

    2. beaver tail

    3. Price around a grand give or take

Should probably post this in the WTB- Want to Buy section of the forum, you'd might get better results. But since I'm already here; how do you feel about Kimber Custom II? Pm me if your interested.

Look at the Springfield Armory products. If you want hard use, then the Springfield lifetime warranty will appeal to you ... if you don't like RIA that is.

If it was around a 1000 like the OP wants. then I might change my opinion.

Although I kinda feel bad about beating up a loaded.

In the $1000 price range, I tend to prefer Kimber over Springfield. The Kimber black finish is tougher than parkerization, and at the TLE level, you get 30 lpi checkering and night sights. To get a similar Springfield, you need to buy a TRP, which is at a higher price point. I also like the Kimber single-piece FLGR, which won't work lose like an SAI two-piece.

What about rust from Kimber carbon steel barrels?

You can get a SA stainless Loaded for right around a grand.
