New 686 Plus 4"

Finally got my new 686 Plus 4" home, after the interminable California 30 day waiting period. Anyway, as the Marines say in a slightly different context, there are many like it, but this one is mine! First thing I did is put a Hogue monogrip on it, which took all of 45 seconds. (I have similar grips on most of my revolvers and I have found that they are perfect for me and the way I shoot.)

Yes, but a 30 day wait between new handgun purchases.

Anyway, going to hit the range over the long weekend and test the revolver and zero the sights. And just plain have fun!

Very nice, I rented and shot 2 686+ last Sunday, found it difficult to adjust to the double action trigger but the guns themselves were handsome and action pretty smooth.

Gross a revolver...What a horrible looking gun, here is a much better one I picked up on the 15th....

Seriously though they could be twins, nice taste!

I'm torn in wondering if I should have gotten smooth grips because pinky is a little awkward when I get grip up high. But I love the finger grooves otherwise.

After testing a Wolff 15lb rebound spring in my mom's 617 which snapped trigger forward flawlessly for 200+ rounds of filthy Remington thunderbolts I decided to open mine up for the last-last time and replace the 18lb factory with 15lb Wolff. Man what a trigger, it feels like a finely tuned race gun. Trigger still resets with authority when releasing slowly or fast.

What you have is an incredibly ugly, over-rated piece of.....sorry, can't do it with a straight face. Nice. I have a 3" 686+, a 6" 386XL, and I pick up my new 4" 586 Tuesday morning. Can't wait.
