    RIA pricing?

I was at a usually overpriced local shop earlier in the week, and they had a RIA mil-spec 1911 (black finish) for $400, NIB. That seems stunningly reasonable for a shop that asks 800 for an m9, but I haven't been able to find the exact model anywhere else to compare. Any input?

That's an about right price for the RIA. Some places have had them for a touch under.

$400 for a RIA milspec 1911 is a darn good price. You better go back there and get it before they see this thread and raise the price!

Thanks for the quick responses. Time to start convincing the better half that it's a good investment...

for local shops, $400 is not bad (i've seen up to $500 for the GI model at local shops and over $600 for the tactical). sarco used to have them for $330-340ish but i don't think they've gotten their ffl stuff staightened out. their tacticals were under $400, so figure around $460-480 with shipping and transfer fees.

I paid $499 for my RIA tactical at turners, so 400 for the GI is about right.

I paid $300 for my RIA milspec, but someone had already fired about 100 rounds through it before they put it on consignment for me to snatch it up.
I have about $50 in upgraded parts in it so far and I expect another $100 before it's a really good 1911.
I bought it to learn to re-work 1911's and I will probably sell it off once I finish it out.

Thats about what they are going for now. I got mine $300 NIB but a Turners case display model in 2003. The next year they had another display model at $260, I should have bought it as well though I have too many basic/milspec 1911 pattern guns already.
