Shooting glasses with eyepatch

So I have astigmatism which means it's hard for me to shoot with both eyes open when wearing contacts.

Anyone use a good pair of shooting glasses with eyepatch (on left eye)? Trying to pick up a good pair. Doesn't need a crazy aperture cover on the dominant eye, just looking to block my weak eye so I don't need to close one eye.

Just put tape on it. No reason to buy specialized glasses.

Just put some Scotch tape over the left lens of your eye-pro. It suppresses the image but allows light through so your pupil doesn't dilate and dilate the other as well. And costs a lot less than the special purpose blinders and precision shooting glasses you see at many precision matches.

Having an astigmatism doesn't affect eye dominance. I have the same condition but with practice find it comfortable to shoot with both eyes open. It just takes practice. Training your shooting eye to dominate (or focus) is the key.

This and you said you are wearing contacts. I think you need to practice more with both eyes open and it'll be more natural after a while.

I have an astigmatism too and I can shoot with both eyes open. You have to train yourself to do it. It was hard for me at first but once I learned how to use some muscle in my eye I never knew I had I was then able to shoot with both eyes open.

Try this: get a good sight picture with your dominant eye open and your weak eye closed and really focus on the target. Then open your weak eye then close it really fast. Do that a couple times and then let your weak eye stay open.

I keep trying this, I have a really hard time doing it!

Any tips or drill to help train eye dominance?

(I'm left eye dominant, shoot right, wear glasses).

I will try the scotch tape trick next time, but ideally shooting with both eyes open is best.

When it comes to shooting glasses, I like the ESS Ice model. Hope that helps.

I have the ESS Supressors with lens inserts. What I found is that with the lenses inserted (to correct vision), the lenses are a bit farther out than your glasses might be so the weight tends to pull the glasses of. They come with a removable strap, but that bugs my ears, which was the whole point of getting supressors in the first place!

I think if I thought about it again, I'd get prescription sunglasses in polycarbonate as shooting glasses. I have prescription sunglasses now, but I don't want the lenses damaged by shell casings.
