    G34 Gen 4 Advice

Saw one at my LGS yesterday and have been debating whether I need one ever since.

I have a Gen 4 17 that I love. Is there that much shooting difference between the two?

For me it seems like an acquisition to round out the glock 9mm family and because of pending legislation.

    Thanks for the help.

More of a competition gun. Of course you could just race up your G17 and kinda achieve the same thing. But longer sight radius etc.

longer barrel is always nicer to shoot at the range plus the added weight, but the difference I think is minimal

I'm not a good shooter by any means, or should I say I'm good at shooting, I've just got real bad aim.

But I REALLY like the extra sight-rad of the G34/35. Anything less is like being in a car that is just too small. I'm almost twice as good with G34 or other slightly longer barrel. One of these days maybe I'll get some real coaching.

But I'd go for the G35 because you can get drop in 9mm but you can't drop in a .40 into a G34, and IIRC the drop in 9mm will be a bit heavier than stock 9mm.

I currently have both, Gen4 17 and 34. If you plan to shoot IDPA/USPSA, then by all means, get the G34, trick the %&@# out of it, and leave the G17 bone-stock for HD.

Having said that, I have used both for USPSA... I'm faster on the draw with my 17 and I don't see an accuracy advantage at competition speed and distances with my 34,
so I'm currently in the process of selling my two G34's (one Gen3, one Gen4). Others will swear the G34 is 'vastly superior' to the G17 in every conceivable way, so the only
way to find out for you is to get a G34 and shoot the heck out of it! However, if you think you might shoot it competitively, I wouldn't recommend the G35 w/ 9mm conversion barrel,
as you wont be allowed to shoot it in that configuration in any sanctioned match.

So... do they feel that different when shooting? For me, not enough to own both. Yes, you do get 1" additional sight radius, and in stock configuration, you get a competition connector
for a slightly lighter trigger pull (a two-minute swap for a G17). The G34 is only ~1oz heavier... Remember, it has that huge hole in the slide to make it weigh as close as possible to the 17's slide weight
so Glock could use the same springs in both, so recoil should be the same... and, of course both have the exact same grip. For me, the 1" longer sight radius does not prove to provide any quantifiable
              advantage in my usage.

I've shot both in Gen 4 and have a 17. No real difference in accuracy but I only shot 10 rounds with the G34. There was slightly less recoil with the 34 but nothing to me that was worth spending the extra $100.

I also love my GEN 4 G17, but I wanted a dedicated nightstand gun, so I got the 34. I will probably end up doubling up on GEN 4 17's & 19's, but the 34 came first. I like the 34 because it handles almost identically to my 17, but my Surefire sits flush with the muzzle.

                        Gen 4 34 and 19 are a plus.

                        I went with 17 then 19 then 34.

If i had to choose two it would be g17 and g19

                        thats my two cents.

It's a sweet shooting gun. I replaced those cheap plastic sights with Glock factory steel sights on mine.

Now I just need some new sights. Leaning towards the warren tactical rear / FO front.

I run Sevigny's on all my Glocks now. I tried the Warren Tactical 's a while back, but I didn't care for them at all. For some reason the "U" notch drove my eyes crazy.

This is what my Sevigny sight picture looks like:
