    Recoil Spring ?

Has anyone used the flat wire recoil spring from wilson combat in there 1911? Is it better then the regular recoil spring?

How do I know which # recoil spring is best for me. I saw a few ranging from 8# to 24#

I haven't used the flat wire spring personally but it requires that you use a full length guide rod from my understanding. Nighthawk Custom sells them as well as a kit. The flat wire is supposed to last much longer that the standard springs according to those companies.

Nighthawk Custom (FM Series) high-quality, one-piece 1911 guide rod with matching guide plug aids in smooth, reliable cycling by completely capturing recoil spring to prevent it from binding or deforming.

      Not quite the case...

I purchased this kit from Wilson a few months ago for my Auto Ordnance 1911 GI and my 1911 has been running fine...

The wilson combat flat wire spring is the one I have in mind, since im planning on getting away from the full lenght guide rod. The question I have is, is it recommended over the standard recoil spring.

Not really. What is RECOMMENDED is that you use the right spring weight for the load you anticipate using.

you do not need a full length guide rod, it is a drop in replacement, my sig 1911 came stock with a flat wire spring, the main advantage of a flat wire spring is supposedly it lasts ten times longer than a conventional recoil spring
