    STI Guns -1911

Does anyone have experience with 1911's manufactured by STI and willing to provide an objective opinion?

Total package on the features and quality, they are great.

Basic blued finish, pretty disappointing for the price. I might cerakote them with some color one day.

So many choices in this range, it's really what you want, good luck with choice.
I am happy with mine, shoots and groups better than I can shoot
    Very nice write-up. Thank you.

ps...I thnk someone stole the grips off your SS 5.0 Tactical.

When I laid my eyes on the STI 1911 USPSA 9mm I knew I had to have it It was definitely calling out to me. I had to drive 3 hrs in traffic 4 times to get this via SSE. That's a total of ~12 hours!

I finally broke it in last week after sitting pretty in the safe for 4 months. It performed flawlessly. I brought my 66 year old dad with me and in previous range visits, he could not hit anything inside an 8-inch shoot-n-see target at 10 yards. With the STI 9mm, he had a big grin on his face seeing those colored holes Actually I was amazed too. We put about 300 rounds thru her without any hiccups. The only negative I can think of right now is that it only came with one 9mm magazine. The Springfield Armory 1911 9mm mags worked well with the STI.

Great looking gun. Good to see the 9mm 1911s getting some love...

I am waiting on delivery of an SS Tactical 5.0 in 9mm with the threaded barrel.

        Might get it by Friday.

I've had an STI Trojan 9mm for 4 years and it is one of my favorite pistols. It's amazing that everyone who shoots it is super accurate with it. The only negative I can find with it is that the finish is pretty thin, which is a pretty common complaint on many forums. Other than that, it is a great gun.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I had a STI Ranger II 4" in 9mm. Awesome gun. Shot great right out of the box and bought a couple of Dawson mags and it was good to go. I would agree that the finish leaves a little to be desired.
I only sold it to upgrade to the 2011 Edge in .40 - Just waiting for my 30 day waiting period to expire so i can pick it up.

Dammit, I wanted that gun so bad but payday came too late.

I like the STI 2011 and I like it a lot but do be advised, it is a little fatter than the 1911. Also, mags can be tricky, at least they are with mine. Gotta do a little filing and scraping here and there to make sure they all engage the magazine catch. Had one just fall out of the magwell today after about the third round. It was an oddball...its out of spec compared with the others.

One thing is for sure, I ain't stopping at one 2011 or one STI. There's room for more in the safe. I'll be selling some stuff to make sure of that.

                I have an STI Trojan 6" 9mm, a STI Perfect 10 and a 4" Ranger II.

I absolutely LOVE STI's and im a big 1911 and own Les Baer, Dan Wesson, Springfield, Colt, Fusion and a some budget brands. But to be honest i tend to shoot my STI's more than the others for some reason.

Im not 100% sure why since they all shoot well but i gravitate towards my STI's
