How to fix 1911 trigger play

Im drosing a champion operator light weight right now, when I went to do the paper work I noticed the trigger had a good amount of wiggle and play (left to right). Is there any way to reduce that or even eliminate it?

One way is to remove the bow and shoe from the handgun. With say a window punch, those spring loaded punches... Near the very top edge of the shoe towards the very rear. Basically where the top edge contacts the sides of the frame and rides there. At a slight upward angle stake the relative soft metal upwards. Try once on each side. You can do this to move metal in the direction of the play. Only do the top part of the shoe. Make no changes to the bottom area of the shoe. With the added presence or additional contact in that area you may need to sand/file slightly to fit. Go slow and test fit as you go.

My Champion had a sloppy trigger, too.

I installed a new one that was more to my liking.

Check the play with a magazine inserted. If still AS loose, or close to the same....don't worry about it.

The trigger is loose on purpose, to keep from binding when a magazine is in the well. It does NOTHING for the pull weight, or pull distance, to tighten the play, and can actually make things much worse if done incorrectly.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I'd just order an aftermarket trigger from Brownells. I have much satisfaction using the Greider Precision Long match Trigger.
