    H&K P2000 problem

After shooting my p2000 yesterday (about 150 rounds), as I was cleaning the inside of the frame, the little pin that holds together the hammer/decocker/trigger assembly fell out. Immediately, I had 4 little pieces sitting on my table and no idea how to put them in.

I've since resolved the issue (hopefully - the gunsmith says it's repaired and ready for pickup), but I'm wondering, has anyone else had this issue (loose pin), especially on an H&K?

    Thanks for any input.

    Was the gun new?

I purchased the gun used a couple of months ago, probably about 1,000 rounds through it, not really sure about that. Previous owner stated ~500, didn't know round count from the guy he got it from.

My take on this would be to contact H&K USA, in the past they would inspect & repair on their dime. I had a USPc .45acp that broke a trigger return spring and they took care of the problem free of charge.

H&K warranty is invalid when gun is sold or transferred to new owner. Shipping to H&K would be a little pricey, when I can take it to the local gunsmith for reassembly/assessment.

Pins do come lose, it's nothing major, especially from a previously used gun. Although, it is odd that it came loose from a HK product, they are known for their workmanship.

If it happens again, contact HK support, or even replace the pin. It could be worn from frequent disassembly from the previous owner.

Thanks for the info Xinogage. I'm sending an email to H&K customer service to see what they say about replacing the pin only. If anyone else has any insight as to what may cause this pin issue, please post.

Has any mods been made to pistol? It is common for HK P2000 LEM model (DAO) , for owners to replace the springs to create a lighter trigger pull.

HK does recommend replacing the pins if they are removed, but not everyone does. Mine still feel pretty tight, but it's possible someone had yours in and out multiple times.

The pin only costs a couple of dollars, you can get them from HK or from hkparts.net

Both of my P2000's have been flawless, among the best guns I've ever owned.

Thanks Knomad! I will look in to that. The gunsmith said to keep an eye on the pin, and if it walks itself out again, to get a replacement.

Jchen - no mods that I'm aware of. I bought it used, and the seller said no mods that he was aware of either (but he bought it used as well). Trigger pull feels like the spec 11.4 DA, 4.7 SA so nothing there. And for clarification, this is the V3, .40 DA/SA version.
