    What would you do?

Just a month ago here on Calguns I picked up this NAA Black Widow simply because I’ve never heard of it before and never have fired a .22 Mag. I like trying new things ☺.
My best bud saw it and mentioned how much he wanted a little derringer. Not sure the NAA counts as a Derringer? But close enough. I suppose these are called Mini-Revolvers now.
I of course keep this in the back of my mind in case I see another Black Widow “like” firearm on Calguns and the other day I find this… and for the right price.

It’s the NAA .22LR NON-Mag and a lot smaller compared to the Black Widow.
I Picked it up! Thinking what a good friend I would be… I’ll have my buddy go over to the LGS and dros his new Derringer/Mini Revolver. But complications…
Now that its here… I want to keep it, look how good it looks next to my other NAA.

Am I an A.H. if I keep the new mini or Just Human ☺ I’m a good friend 99% of the time… this is what happens when that 1% comes out

I assume your friend just wants it as a toy and not for protection... If so, just shoot it with him without selling it to him. Then help him look for one. There are other derringer pistols out there. No need to lose yours.

You are still a good friend that way. And if he is a good friend, he will also understand.

Then give him a brick of ammo once he has his. Dilemma solved!

    Good luck!

Why does it have to be on CalGuns? A couple versions of the NAA Mini are on The Roster, so you can buy one brand new for $200. In stock at plenty of places. If it's a matter of finding a used one for significantly less, then okay I get it.

      They're great guns.

if you promised this pistol to him already then changed your mind , yea that would be kind of un-cool .he would prob think your a dick for doing it, but he would get over it,i mean you are best friends. i see these mini pistols all the time, so if you gave him this one i have no doubt you can find another. i would keep the belt buckle tho.

Guns should only be surrendered one bullet at a time.

If you told him you'd sell it to him, personally, I'd do it. Your only as good as your word. Just my opinion.

I agree with Tank and Smith, Ive lost a couple firearms to that dilemma, but thats cause Im an idiot and havent learned to stop giving people my word before I know all the options lol. For instance, I had 2 xd9 sub compacts. My buddy wanted one, but he was hurting for cash. I promised him I wouldnt sell it except to him. A week later, I had transmission trouble, and sold one to fix my transmission. Then like two weeks later my buddys like Ok, I m ready to buy it! I was thinking "MAN!!! I REALLY wanted to KEEP one!!!" But being true to my word, I sold it to him. I figured I promised, and they're easy enough to find another. Be the good guy. You can always find another gun, its alot harder to find a friend whose got your back!

Not following up on a promise devalues your word and is overall bad juju. The time to decide is *before* you make a commitment.

Even if it was some very special and hard to find gun, a word is a word and you shouldn't be tempted. Some soul searching might be in order.

Very Good comments by everyone thanks! No I didn't promise my friend anything , he doesn't even known Im looking for one of these for him. Yes true a couple NAA's are on the roster but after its gone Jan 2014 - probably wont get back on. I like the idea of keeping the Belt Buckle because he wont have use for it and I ordered a Clip Fold Out Grips for it (just like the one on my widow)
And yes agreed our word is all we got which is why Im figuring out what to do with you all before I commit :-)

Once on the roster, all they have to do is pay a fee. No retesting, no new features, etc. NAA would be *very* stupid to let it lapse.

I would expect those to stay on the roster for a long time.

Yeah, and it's only like $25 or something fairly low. Since NAA still manufactures these guns, it would be silly for them not to pay the fee and extend their Roster'd status for another year.

I didn't know it worked that way , thought everyone had to convert to micro stamping for the new law. I imagined a new Roster being drawn up with the MFG's who provide Micro-stamped versions of a certain gun.

^^^ that's needed to get a new gun on. When they pass new laws, the guns already on can stay on. That's why, even though the law has required chamber load indicators and magazine disconnects for a few years now, there are still lots of Glocks and 1911's and other things that never had those.

Just for those who are not aware, Ruger SR22 fell off the roster because Ruger *changed* the manufacturing process and the new gun was deemed a *different model*.

To get it back on the roster Ruger would have to resubmit the application, but due to the microstamping requirement that is now in effect, it's not going to happen. So, it's a one way street with the roster from now on (for semi-autos).
