CZ 75B vs. Beretta 92FS

I've been searching for the CZ 75B for a few months now, no luck. Mags are hard to find and holsters are practically non-existent.

The Beretta 92FS I've actually seen in stock - there are mags out there and holsters are aplenty. I don't like the slide-mounted safety, though.

I have small-to-medium hands and I have held both. I've been looking for a full size metal 9mm for months. Which would you get and why?

I own both and for me, they are VERY close. When at the range and I shoot the two back to back, I prefer the trigger on the 92fs.

The one thing I dislike about the 92fs is the grip. It's a little fatter than the CZ but that could probably be remedied by some VZ grips (which I hope to get soon)

But for me, they both absorb recoil really well, both shoot like lasers, and both have smallish, low profile sights.

But you're right, accessories for the CZ are tough right now. Was just looking for mags and the cheapest I am seeing is 34.99, ugh.

I picked up some 92fs 17 round rebuild kits from gunbroker for around $15 a mag, Italy made as well.

Tough call. The slide mounted safety does not bother me on the Beretta.

I've had great luck with Beretta 92's (I think I have seven right now - maybe eight). Had 90-Twos (9mm/.40) - sold them, 96's - sold them. Never had a hiccup that I didn't cause myself.

But CZ's are the same - reliable, straight shooters...

I've shot CZ's and had not issues with them. The Swiss Sphynx is a copy of the CZ (much to my surprise). Shot it in Switzerland, was not impressed, at least for the difficulty in buying and the cost....

CZ has both a DA/SA model and SA only. Beretta 9x series DA/SA.

But you can get parts, mags, ect aftermarket a lot easier and cheaper for Beretta.

Bottom line - as it's always been, whatever you can find, buy, and shoot well, is what you should get.

But, I've always had a hankering for SP-01 for some reason, small 9mm...

CZ. The slide mounted controls killed me on the Beretta.

It used to be that the CZ was hands down the better gun for the money, but now that the prices have increased in the last few years it is much closer.

The CZ has better ergonomics, but it has to be manually de-cocked.

The Beretta has better fit and finish and has a cheaper overall cost of ownership (mags, parts, holsters, etc.), but many people don't like the slide mounted safety/de-cocker.

Personally, after shooting both, I bought a Beretta (M9A1) and I really enjoy shooting it. It is a very soft shooting handgun with a really smooth action (it feels like the slide is on ball bearings).

CZ makes some nice guns..

But 92s are nice them selves. The 92s aren't very beefy width wise. By palm to fingers is a bit wide with their factory grips. Not unmanageable tho

I am partial to the smoothness and high quality feel of the Beretta M9/92fs.

I bought a CZ 75 BD from gunbroker 3 weeks ago. I also bought OEM 10 round mags from Midway. Midway has the Mecgar 16 rounders for under $20 now but they won't ship them to CA.

CZ custom have holsters in stock and I bought a holster and mag pouches from BladeTech, just delivered today (3 week turnaround)

If the 10 round mags are out of stock, set the alert to email you when they get in, they come in periodically, usually earlier than the expected date.

There was a CZ 75B in stock in a store in Fresno, too far for me and I wanted the BD model. Don't remember the store.

It'll take a little effort to find them but its not that hard.

I would get the CZ 75B, I rented a CZ and Beretta and shot them side by side. My groupings with the CZ was much smaller than the Beretta.
The grip is bigger on the Beretta. But you can purchase different grips for both to make them a little smaller.
I too did not like the slide mounted safety.

My .02 is if you'd like a Beretta, get one now while it's available. As you noted, mags are plentiful too at the moment.

CZ do seem to be hard to find and when they do appear, they disappear just as fast.

Kentucky Gun Co has a 75BD (decocker) model in stock. Mag cap is a different issue.

Beretta = fat grip. Slide mounted safety that works opposite than a 1911/CZ and most other safeties.

CZ = excellent ergos, especially for small to medium hands. Frame mounted safety.

I hate the beretta and how it feels in my hand. Slide mounted safeties, especially DECOCKER slide mounted safeties like the beretta, are just about the most retarded design ever on a modern handgun. Try clearing a malfunction under stress without engaging the safety.

CZs on the other hand ... Love everything about them.
