    Thoughts on Para Elite 1911?

Turners has a special on Wed.

    I don't have a 1911.

I haven't found a lot of info which may be an indicator.

Here's a recent review. I have no personal experience with the pistol, unfortunately.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Even though I'm not going the way of the 1911 again..........that one is compelling for the price. Ion Bond finish on both slide and frame should not get eaten by holsters, match barrel and trigger, beefy extractor..........and actually on roster. Grab a Gun had them for $774. Frame is forged also, not investment cast.

How much will Turners be selling them for?

It does seem like you get a lot for the money compared to some other brands.
However, not knowing much about this brand has me wondering if it's too good to be true....

They're getting solid reviews on 1911forum.com.

Para are cast guns, I have had personal experience where there were hair line cracks near the take down pin on the lower frame, Para replaced it but it was a hassle

Do your homework... the Elite and all new models at that level are forged. Go to the 1911 forum, then go to the manufacture inner forums.. the Para representative is the one who posts the info. The double stack models still have cast frames.

My Dad had one. He complained of a 'gritty' trigger. Sent it to Para to be refined and it was returned with a gritty trigger. It was sold soon after.

                      I personally never handled it.

He had an Elite? That gun has not been out long. Or did he have the Expert from the entry lever line?

Pretty sure it was the Elite. This was towards the end of June.

The Elites have a match trigger, and the Expert series do not. I would bet that if he had a gritty trigger.....it wasn't an Elite. The Experts still have a skelotonized trigger, but it's not match grade.
