    1911 Poll

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I can't SLEEP!
I'm going to finally buy a Kimber Custom II TLE/RL 1911 tomorrow, but with similar price range, the Springfield PX9105MLP (Operator) is itching with my Kimber choice!

This will be my first handgun and a big deficit to my bank account so I can't go wrong.

PLZ Help! Any info on which is the better choice!

whoops. I hate being the first to reply for a poll. I said other, just so you may look at the Dan Wessons...Not saying it's better, just something you may want to look into.

Hopefully your gun store will have a Dan Wesson in stock. Give them a look over.

          I would look at the Wesson's too. Also, I would give serious consideration to this Kimber TLE that is for sale in the classifieds;

Looks like a sweet piece for a good price.

I'd venture a guess and say that he's looking for a railed 1911, which none of the aforementioned guns are.

With that being said, I'd take one of the railed Smith and Wesson 1911s over the Kimber or Springfield by far.

+1 on the S&W. I put up my S&W 1911PD against any other 1911 in a similar price range.

I had the same issue last week. I ended up going for the SA Operator. I handled various Kimber's and none of the ones that were in my local store came close to the SA Operator. The Operator felt a lot better and the trigger seem a lot better too.

Both the Kimber and Springfield are good choices. I happen to think the Kimber is a better pistol for the buck. Since the Kimber is the choice of the Special Units of the U.S. Marines and the LAPD SIS and SWAT teams, I figure they can't be wrong on their choice. I vote for Kimber all the way. I have six of em'. And they all go boom when I need them to.

                      1911

SPRINGFIELD for sure. Good price and quality + they have a lifetime warranty.

I have a Kimber and a Springfield and while both are really nice, I don't quite like that the Springfield is made in Brazil.

If this is your first hand gun, and I am assuming that you are looking at new pistols, why not consider buying a used 1911 in good condition? It's like buying a new car. As soon as you drive it off the lot... It looks like you're going to spend around $1200.00 when you could be spending around half that or a little more and still have a very nice pistol.

That said, you can't go wrong with a Springfield because it is a basic government model platform. I have three in various levels of fanciness from a used Mil-Spec that I bought at a pawn shop to a Custom Carry (one step down from the Professional FBI model) that cost $1500.00 and a six month wait.

                            So there you go.

I vote for the Kimber. When you go check out a few things:
The saftey has been rough on most Springfields I have tried. My Kimber snaps on and off with equal force and is very positive. The Springfields I have tried are almost impossible to click on and off with the shooting hand alone.

Reset: Kimbers have a nice short reset with minimal creep. The Springfields seem to have twice the creep and are very gritty compared to the Kimber.

The slides on most new 1911's are gritty feeling when new but all seem to smooth out over 2000 rounds or so.

Just my observations but you cannot go wrong either way. Good luck!
