Gun Scrub on poly frame...

is it safe to use "gun scrub" aerosol can cleaner to spray down the inside of a polymer frame? the inside of the polymer frame on my Ruger SR 40 is looking pretty funky...

I've used it before, but it seems to "dry out" he polymer. If you do use it, use it gently and follow it with a small amount of CLP, then wipe it all off.

Yes you can with the gun scrub, but I prefer using the Rem Oil Aerosol (less than $5 at Walmart, just spray it down and wipe off the excess, you'll be surprise how good it cleans!

If you use the polymer safe gun scrubber spray, your good to go. I give my Glocks frames a good spraying with the stuff at least a couple times a year, no issues.

Rubbing alcohol on a rag also works good for cleaning polymer frames. Wrap some rag around a wooden dowl to clean in the magwell.

The original gun scrubber could melt some of the earlier polymer/plastic, such as old bakelite 1911 grips. That's why gun scrubber comes out with their synthetic safe formula. If you are using it on modern polymer frame, I have never seen any issue regardless if it's the original or new synthetic safe formula.

Never had the need to clean the inside of my frame/magwell..

It just doesn't really get too dirty in that area, nor does it matter if it is.

I'd use some Hoppe's though

I purchased the SR40 used. Looks as if the previous owner may have over oiled the slide rails. Now, there seems to be an accumulation of gook in all the nook and crannies. I'd like to spray it out and clean things up a bit!
