M&P 9mm MAGAZINE, Help Identify

So my LGS has this M&P 9 magazine that is quite long for a compact model, it does seat into mag catch, however it is too short to catch in a full size model, any insight to which model it is for? Thanks

Heres a standard cali mag in 9mm.

The baselate on yours looks shorter but the tube looks the same. Thats odd, if it doesnt fit a compact then I dont know what its for...maybe someone mixed up some parts and put the wrong base plate on the full size tube... I dunno...

I think it's one of the mixup mags S&W sends out every once in a while. Compact body, fullsize foot. A buddy of mine got 2 of them with his fullsize M&P. If they contact S&W they should send out a new mag.

Yep I bet thats it. The 40 baseplate would be shorter to allow for a longer tube. So thats a 40/9 frankenmag

Thanks big Ron I remember reading that thread and that's what led me to believe that's what it is. So us theis the mag needed if running a 9 mm barrel in a .40 frame?

no, the mag you are showing us is a 10 round full size or compact 9mm mag body (they are the same body) with a full size 10 round .40 cal. base.

you will need a complete 9mm full size mag (10 round 9mm mag body and a 10 round 9mm full size base).

I've seen this a couple of times and it is true that you have the 10-round .40 base on the 10-round 9mm mag. You can turn it into a FS 10-round mag with the 9mm base or turn it into a compact mag with this:
