I moved and have new address

I have a new address for my proof of CA residency. I also did an address change with the DMV for my license. However the DMV says I don't need a new ID because of this. When I go in to purchase my next handgun, will this be a problem?

no, Bring a rental agreement, or mortgage statement, your picture ID, and a government based utility bill, and you should be fine.

Call and ask your FFL before you bring that as your POR. There are a lot of ways listed as accepted for DOJ but some shops don't accept it because they don't see it fit or too "grey" for them. The shop has the right to deny a type of POR if they feel its not fit to them.

So to save your self time and head ache call and make sure your shop is ok with those forms of POR. They probably will but just call to CYA Ask me how I know lol

Tell the DMV you lost your license and want a replacement issued with your new address.

I used a Voter Registration form and AT&T bill and it was fine. But, call your FFL to be 100% certain.

This. PPT's are a hassle when your address isn't current. Pony up the $27 and get that squared away.

It's well worth the $40 to do this. I spend almost that in gas one time because the not-so -local gun store wouldn't take my Jury duty papers or voting papers.

Any time I have moved i pay the $26 for a duplicate license to update the address.
It saves a lot of headaches

I've always used my license with current address and my car registration. Might be worth it for you to have both documents match for future purchases.

I just moved too. I have my DL and regestration still in my old address.

So I brought My DL (old address) and my current utility bill (new address) and I was fine.

I did go to big 5, and they wouldn't accept those, because the have stricter rules for some reason.

Riflegear, and Gun Gallery had no problem accepting them though. I would call ahead and ask, just to make sure.

Not sure if you can apply for a duplicate license at the AAA but give a call. A short wait at the Auto Club beats 1/2 a day at the DMV.
