Colt Python/Cobra/Anaconda can only be PPT?

Is it true that getting a Colt snake series can only be through PPT in California?

This can be done but the lock work of the python is going to require some
smith work that really needs to be done very carefully,I'm not sure the
cost would make it feasible ---on the other side ( by comparison a S&W
          is much easier). Pete

I thought revolvers were exempt from the roster.

There are some C&R Pythons out there that would be roster exempt, you just need to find one 50+ years old. They were introduced in 1955.

There is also intra-family transfer if you have qualifying family members out of state.
