    Opinions on Dan Wesson Revolvers?

Hey Guys, I just inherited a .44 magnum 4" Dan Wesson (stainless) in a trade deal, I don't know much about them other than everyone says they work forever and you can get all lengths of barrels and shrouds for them..

This one seems to have a Great single action trigger and OK double action, SO what is the general opinion on these?? Anyone?? Regards, Jim

    Great guns!

However, due to the interchangablility of barrels, one must make sure to use
the gauge to set barrel/cylinder gap(9 one thousanths IIRC) or one will have
some lead spitting. They aslo will chamber the heavy 300gr plus bullets from
    Sierra, big plus.

Mine was scary accurate, I wish I still had it.

I got a model 15 in .357 magnum. It was supposed to be an inexpensive gun for my girlfriend at the time since I got it from a CG member for $180. I'm glad we broke up before she could take it away No complaints other than I'm not a fan of the heavy pull on DA revolvers. SA is sweet as it should be. Will not likely sell it unless someone makes an offer I can't refuse...

+1, these revolvers were all the rage when they came out back in the day.

The short answer is, It depends. Dan Wessons when done right are some of the finest handguns you'll ever shoot but there are some problem children in the mix. The company has gone through many incarnations over the years and some were great and some not so great. My advice would be to find a collector of the brand to sort it all out for you. I'd like to own a Dan Wesson one day as the ones I've shot have been amazing.

yes, I had a poorly made .357mag mod 15 version. I like the concept a lot though and accuracy can be better than average. They have sort of a following. The ones made in Monson MA are suppose to be better but mine was one from there.

I had 2 S&W's that could not hold up under the loads I was running through the Dan

Early 80's, had a High Standard Sentinal made by Dan Wesson in .357. I headspaced it by snugging the barrel onto a business card against the cylinder.

Strongest gun I ever owned, and one of the most accurate to boot. Won a lot of meat at the local turkey shoots during the holidays. Ran some really stupid high pressure loads through it, scary high pressure. But the gun came through it just fine....other than two broken firing pins and a cracked hammer....

                      Good gun.

If I had to sell every revolver I own except one, my DW would be with me to the end. Awsome guns. Yup I'm sure a few lemons got shipped out but from what I've seen that would be the exception not the rule.

                          GlockGuy, can we talk?????

Sure, but the pistol pack isn't for sale. I traded a Porsche Carrera for it and some $$$, to a CalGuns member. Best deal I ever made!!!

Even without using the interchangeable barrel system you should find they are built like tanks and most are as accurate as any DA revolver you can find.
