    Weird Magazine Break

So, has anyone ever had this happen before with a magazine floorplate?

On the left is a 'good' (not destroyed) HK floorplate, on the right...well you'll see what snapped off.
It happened tonight at the range after I'd already loaded it at least twice.
    Basically it just, well...fell off.

Anyone else ever seen this happen?
And where can I get a new HK floorplate?

    Thanks,
    B.

I've seen it happen a handful of times. Realistically, the magazine is destroyed and worthless. On paper, you can order replacement floorplates from H&K, but I have tried doing so without success. The phrase "HK, because you suck, and we hate you." carries some truth. Couldn't hurt to call/write/e-mail them though, maybe you'll get lucky.

Perhaps check the H&K forums for an online aftermarket store, I've never looked.

Ive seen it a couple of times, replacement parts for HK mags direct from the manufacturer are a good source of unobtanium. Youre stuck usually buying new mags.

Yeah I kind of figured after reading several posts about HK parts here on Calguns. I ended up buying two new ones tonight.

Most 10 round mag design $ucks!!! I have a couple of Mec-Gar (non HK) and I'm sure the floorplate retaining pin will break if I drop them on a hard floor.

Haha that sucks, we had that happen to my walther p99. my bro was firing the first 1 or 2 rounds of the freshly loaded mag when click.. opened the slide to see what happened and he's like i can see all the way through it! then looks on the ground with all the rounds, spring and what's left of the floor plate in the dirt. sucks.

Yeah, I had that happen with a cheap 1911 mag from CDNN.

I took a chance and ordered a few of their discount ones along with some Mecgars, was firing away, and had a misfire. I did a tap-rack-no bang, popped it open, and saw daylight through the ejection port. Sure enough, the mag guts and rounds were all on the floor. I re-assembled it and put it and it's brother into the junk mag bag.

I don't have HKs, but I have a couple dozen Mecgars for all sorts of pistols, and no problems with any of them so far.

when you ordered the new mags, save the recipt and if the new ones break demand replacement for faulty merchandise.

I've had several friends of mine who buy the latest and greatest hand guns on the market, only to be disapointed by crappy mags. One guy said when he called Walther they told him "your from California you get what we give you" he got rid of that thing and went to Glock.

Was that from a .45 mag? If so, I have some.

i'd fix that with a little block of wood cut to fit in the holes in the body then run a screw up through the floorplate hole into it it may hold less but its less hassle than contacting HK

Yup, full size USP. You have an extra floorplate?

I have one also you can have for free. If you have any non-extended baseplates I'll swap 2 for 1 (extended for non-extended)!

How 'bout sum 100 mile duct tape? That'll fix it and put character on each mag.
