With most handguns its not as critical as with long guns. However, if she's just starting out, its nice to have some things that she can operate efficiently.

I was just thinking, don't forget about the HK P7M8 or P7PSP. They are perfect for us lefties.

They are definitely pricey, a little tough to find (out of production, sadly), and are not for beginners, but they are damn fine pistols and really easy to conceal.

Once you get used to the squeeze-cock action, it is super easy and becomes second nature.

As soon as I can find a holster maker to make what I need (am looking for leather, any suggestions?), I'm forgoing my P2000 and going back to the P7 for CCW and am looking for a third one.

Here is a holster maker I have used, real nice work, available in left or right hand models, many styles.

I shoot left handed and find the Glock to be very user friendly. Dropping the mag with the trigger finger is easy. When shooting two handed, I'll drop the mag with the middle finger of the right hand.

If I do shoot to empty, I slingshot the slide instead of using the slide stop.

I'm just learning about guns and will be picking up my first pistol, a Buck Mark with an ambidextrous grip, this coming Wednesday.

Both my handgun safety course and a local gun dealer said it's the dominant eye that determines which hand to shoot with. Though I'm a righty, my left eye is the one I really see with. So I'm learning to shoot like a lefty. Later I'll work on shooting well with my right hand.

Another gun dealer said the HK's allow lefties to drop the magazine from the left side instead of the right. I don't really know.
