Opinions on Glock .22LR Conversion Kits?

Just been contemplating whether I should keep my M&P 22, and get a .22LR Kit for my Glock 17, especially for practice.

I love the M&P 22, don't get me wrong... just one less gun to lock up, transport, clean, etc. Plus I prefer the trigger setup on my G17.

If only these conversion kits were cheaper, but it looks like they're running at about $290~ plus $25/per extra mag.

I used to own a glock 22 and the AA conversion kit. Just to preface, I hated the glock. I didn't like the trigger, the .40 cartridge, or the ergonomics. That being said, as a .22lr pistol, it was one of the most entertaining guns that I have ever owned. It was light, actually had a better break on the .22, was dead on accurate, and was fast. I've actually considered buying a glock again, just to get the conversion kit. I don't remember having more than a couple malfunctions with decent ammo - CCI Blazer 50ct, Minimag, Federal Automatch, etc...

I've been looking at picking up an M&P 22 as a way to get my girlfriend used to the M&P, but if you just want a .22, I enjoyed the glock.

My G17 really likes the AA .22 conversion. Works equally well with Wolf MT and CCI Mini Mag.

Haha, yeah, these aren't bad. But a bit on the heavier side and take down is a bit more of a hassle.

Yea take down is a beeze. But I think it's well worth the money.

Great shooter. A lot less haste to shoot. You just pick it up and go. You'll get tired of swapping when you want to shoot your 22 conversion. I got tired of constantly switching my CMMG kit on my AR. Yea even tho it takes 2 seconds it gets old. And it's a Mark III just another gun you can brag you have

              That's true. I was actually considering a Ruger 22/45 or Browning Buckmark too before I got my M&P22 too. After selling my S&W 22A, I realized that I didn't want a target/match-type .22LR.

Good point about dealing with the slide/swap. I'm leaning towards keeping it-- it's a great shooter after all, and don't have any problems with it. Decisions, decisions... thanks man.

Seems like it's about $50-60~ more than the AA one. What's the difference?

The AA kit works , but it's ammo picky and needs to run clean. The Tactsol has a pretty bad reliability rep.
On the other hand.... your M&P22 is reliable and eats everything you feed it....

Hell, dump the G17 and get an M&P 9 and run an w/ APEX if you must.

But when you get down to it I don't think either of the 3 are a loss. I just personally prefer the Mark III my self. I wanted the AA 22 glock kit too but after looking into the Mark III I lost interest in it. To be 100% honest I don't even know why the III just appeals to me more now. Can't explain it.

I had the Advantage Arms kit, which I put atop the frame for my G34. It was pretty picky with ammo, would really only be reliable with CCI Mini Mags. Regular bulk ammo would have all sorts of problems in it.

I've owned several conversion kits over the years, and the only one that has been utterly reliable with all types of ammo is the CZ Kadet.

                        IMO, purpose-built .22's > .22 conversion kits.

My Glock AA conversion runs with just about anything except Federal (which AA tells you not to use anyway). It even eats with gusto those disgusting Remington Golden Bullets that everyone hates.

That being said, you may want to consider just what you want the .22 pistol for. If it's for practice in a shooting discipline in which you use the Glock, you might want to get the conversion kit to maintain consistency with your preferred platform. If you're looking primarily for target pistol accuracy, you might not be satisfied with most of the available conversion kits and might want to look at picking up a suitable pistol instead.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I agree, but I think most .22LR purpose-built handguns/rifles have come across the pickiness at one point or another (i.e. Sig Mosquito, lol).

Seems like I've been reading nothing but good things about the AA kit though. TSol on the other hand... seems to stink especially at and additional $50+

                              Thanks for the feedback everyone.
