heres a really stupid 1911 question

I'm not new to guns I swear I'm not. But I am new to the 1911. I picked up a mil spec 1911 from Rock Island Armory on an impulse buy and it came with only one mag. I cant seem to find extra rock island mags anywhere on the net. Will 1911 mags from any old 1911 fit any other 1911?? what mags might you recomend?

Just about any 1911 mag should fit, but like all mags you should use them thoroughly before trusting your life to them.

Any 1911 magazine will fit. Not every 1911 magazine will function well. It depends upon the gun, ammo, and magazine.

I usually switch out my OEM magazines with either Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick mags.

My RIA came with a Novak and I added 3 Chip McCormick (CMC) mags and they feed everything just fine through my Rock.

I believe all RIA/Armscor 1911s(Government models) come with Novak mags. You dont buy RIA mags, look for 1911 Novak/Act-Mags.

I stand corrected. Not all 1911 magazines will fiit. I should have said all 1911a1 magazines will fit.

Sorry Brassburnz... I just didn't want the OP getting confused. I happen to have both flavors and have to make sure I have the right ones with me for range trips. Don't get me worng, I'm not complaining. It's a good problem to have.

If your mag hold 8 rds, buy commander mag from MidwayUSA, they may have RIA mag.
