Springfiled 9mm xd9411

I purchased a Springfield 9mm xd9411, which is on the CA DOJ roster as approved. The original 9mm firearm had a 16 round mag which is illegal, so I had the seller keep the 16 round mag and just send my FFL the firearm with a 10 round mag. Is this ok/legal?

My original FFL said they could not do the transaction after receiving it, so I had FFL 1 send it to another FFL (after I talked to the second FFL).

FF#1 stated that since the serial number on the 9mm was tagged to a 16 round 9mm, and even though the model number xd9411 is legal, the full model number xd9411******** is coded on the DOJ FFL "DROS" database as not legal with the 16 round mag, which I know, that is why I replaced the 16 mag with a 10 round mag before shipment. On the box it says "not legal in Ca with the high capacity mag".

So I'm just hoping this works out - firearm is being sent to FFL #2 tomorrow.

I agree with ffl#1.
XD's go by the model number (unlike CZ, just by name), model number is on a sticker on the box.
Magazine capacity does not change model number.
Model XD9411HCSP06 arrived and not XD9411SP06.

Another stupid roster non sense, hopefully ffl2 is able to SSE.

Hopefully the only difference is the mag.
I just checked out my xd9401, 40 caliber which is the Tactical equivalent to the 9mm xd9411. They looked exactly the same except the xd9411 originally was set for a 16 mag, which can (was) changed to a 10 mag. The only other difference is the xd9411 9mm has night sights which are legal in Ca.

I did this with an xd 9mm tactical, no problems from my FFL. From my understanding the SKU is the model number, i.e, XD9401. The rest of it is the "package", gear, mag size, etc, i.e. HCSP06 vs SP06 for 16 round vs 10 round 9mm mags. The SKU is what gets it on/off of the roster. That is my understanding from what was told to me by 2 FFL's before I ordered it. There really should be no need to SSE. If you are in the north bay check out Elite Armory in Castro Valley or Tracy Rifle and Pistol.

That is what FFL#2 said. I tend to believe him. The only difference is the magazine which I changed out before delivery. The firearm looks and feels like my xd40, xd9401, which is legal.

I will find out Tuesday/Wednesday.

Springfield xd9411 update

I signed the DROS documents on Wednesday regarding this issue and I'm now in my 10 day waiting period.

Am I in the clear now regarding this firearm?

If the ffl is willing to do the transfer you're fine, as long as your background is good. My xd9 tactical went through without s hitch and I was in the same situation as you. I still have the "not legal in California AND with high cap mags" sticker on my box!.

I finally received the Springfield 9mm after swapping out the 16 round mag with a 10 round mag. (see attached) Fire amrbox says "not legal in Ca". All I did was swap out the mags, and now it is legal,
