Yknow... I'd avoid going all out based on the sole fact this is your first gun. A guy I know bought a nice .45 (back in '84 it cost him $1000)for his first handgun only to discover down the line that he really shot better with 9mm.

People do end up shooting and enjoying firearms that are different than they originally conceptualized. Go with what you can afford without suddenly being broke and having to sell it off. Your best bet is always going to be one you can afford to live with.

$250 worth of ammo and range fees will go farther towards improving your abilities than $500 in mods.

i'll be one of the only ones to say get the wilson.

if you get the colt and you love shooting it then the wilson will always be on your mind and the end of the day thinking what if i had just bought the wilson how much more fun/better/satisfied would you be. So instead of spending 2341 you'll end up spending 825+2341 and have a colt that gets neglected.

but i will say that if it's your first handgun and you've never shot the 1911 platform before then go to the range and shoot a bunch of rented guns to make sure that it's the one for you. that initial money spent testing them all out and finding which style works for you is the most valuable learning lesson you can buy.
