    GSG 922 (1911 .22)

    Looks neat. (on roster 07/05/13)
GSG 922CA (Zamack 5, zinc alloy; aluminum). Still iffy on ATI's stuff, but if a super deal pops up, might go for it.
    MSRP is $375

Looks really nice and not a bad price either. Does it use the same magazine as the full size?

I think it was the plastic guide rod breaking after a while. I read that once you replace it with a steel guide rod, all is well.

I have the Sig 1911-22 (basically same gun as the full-size GSG 1911-22) and have no issues so far. I replaced the guide rod from the get-go. My only gripe is the weight of the trigger pull - based on my estimate, it is more around 6 lbs or so. Very heavy compared to "regular" 1911's.

But the GSG above looks good (except for the big white markings)!

I've got the GSG-1911, got it as a warmup platform before shooting my 1911's. While the 922CA looks interesting I wonder why one would buy it. Unless you want a compact 1911 feel, I thing a Ruger SR22 or Smith's M&P 22 would be more reliable. The Ruger SR22 will shoot just about any .22 where the GSG will probably want CCI Mini Mag or Federal AutoMatch to run reliably, at least that is my experience.

I don't see CW Accessories (http://www.cwaccessories.com/Products.html) making anything for the GSG 922. The key thing was the guide rod which was subject to breakage. Google around for that. Maybe GSG has gone to a better design of the guide rod for the 922.

The GSG 922 doesn't float my boat but if the OP likes it, go for it with the warning that the Zamack is a cheap metal.

I had a full sized version not too long ago. Not a huge fan of ATI / GSG products these days. Quality left a lot to be desired, and mine had to be sent back for warranty work. There are plenty of reports out there where people are having issues. I definitely wouldn't recommend one based on my experience with them.

Much happier now with my S&W MP22 and Ruger SR22.

I can't tell from the picture if the GSG 922 has a dovetailed front sight or not. To alter the sight picture the GSG 1911 had 3 different front sights. None of them worked for me and I replaced the fixed rear sight with an adjustable one. It took a fair amount of fitting, which I did on the sight rather than the slide.

Trigger945 talks about the guide rod on the GSG 1911 being plastic. It was actually a cast piece and if you google around, you'll see examples of that breaking. CW Accesories has a steel guide rod but given the size of the 1911 it's a sure bet it wouldn't fit in this gun. I've heard that GSG started using a better guide rod, but mine wasn't one of them.

Once again I'd go for the Ruger SR22 or the M&P before I picked up the GSG 922, just for reliability. If you want the feel of a 1911, do the GSG 1911, at least you have some resources at CW Accessories for that model.

Looks like we get the beaver-tail, front sight looks non-dovetail.

If a sale hits $300, will buy it.
