    Handgun shipping inside CA

Is there a requirement that handguns being shipped inside CA be shipped 2 day air? I am looking to get a new Rock Island and found one at a good price, but the dealer says that CA regs require that he shipped it 2 Day Air, which cost $50.

Better to ask this one on the FFL Forum...

      Dealer is FOS.

California does not regulate how to ship weapons in-state, out of state, or to the state.

Fed-Ex and UPS require overnight service...their regs, not the state's.

An -01 licensee can ship handguns through USPS. A non-01-licensee can ship long guns but not handguns via USPS.

      Who's the dealer?

If I were you, I'd find an ffl who knows his business...yours does not.

Yup, he's either lying or clueless.

A -01 FFL can mail it using USPS, this is a Federal regulation...Priority Mail in a flat rate box is only about $15.

A non-FFL would need to ship in via UPS or FedEx, this is a Federal Regulation.

Being shipped Overnight isn't a CA regulation but a UPS/FedEx policy
