    New Style Lonewolf Longslides

Has anyone seen/own the new design on the G20LS? Just opened my package and noticed it looked different then realized it must be a new design.

The big difference is right under the muzzle. Not sure if it is different due to solid top vs open top. Any thoughts? Does it look weird? Does the shape serve a function? Still waiting for the rest of the parts to come in then I'll post a finished pic of the gun. Watcha guys think?

Not old or new, G20LS is solid top ( S is solid top ) and G20L is open top, Lone Wolf has both.
The solid top is very heavy about 545 grams so the bottom cut is needed.
I have cut the solid top long slide down to 410 grams.
Stock 34 slide is 441 grams

Thanks Jerry, that was the kind of info I was looking for. Just curious if there is any specific advantage of either type(solid top vs. open) or if it is all just cosmetic. In my mind the solid top would have less chances of debris getting stuck that might affect cycling, but that's just me...

Still waiting for the barrel and stippling to be done and I'll post pics.

My solid top G20LS was made in LWD's 2nd run of that particular slide, and it did not have the beveled dust cover, so that part is new.

I'd really like to see what a G20LS carved down to sub-G34 slide weight looks like. I contemplated putting mine on a diet for USPSA Limited Class, but I ended up getting rid of it.

So how did it work with the full weight of your solid top? Did you have trouble cycling? I want to use this gun for full-power, heavy duty loads so I figured the heavy solid top would be the better choice. I'm curious why weight has to be reduced in the newer model...

I had major problems with my first G20L slide, so I sent it back and had it replaced with the G20LS (solid top). I had even more problems with the solid top, so I sent my frame, slide & 2 barrels back to LWD to have their smith look at it. After some pretty significant work, it ran flawlessly. The weakest load I shot was a 180gr JHP @ 950fps & the hottest was a 200gr WFNGC @ 1416fps, and both ran fine. The extra slide mass makes the G20LS the better choice for guys who want to push the limits. It will slow down the slide, and help make sure the barrel doesn't unlock early, so brass life is longer & the chance of a case rupture is much smaller.

Hey Drab, what year was your solid top? I'm curious why Lone Wolf decided to bevel the dust cover on the new solid top design. Kinda looks odd, but if it makes the gun shoot like a laser I'll keep it. I must admit, I like the non-beveled look better, but then again its a glock and its all business and not a fashion statement...

Mine was made in 2011 if I remember correctly. They probably did it either to save money, or for style points. I agree, the old style looked better. I don't think trimming that little piece off the dust cover will make it function any better or worse than the old style, it probably only shaves off 1/4-1/2oz . IIRC the G20LS weighs about 21oz with no barrel or internals.

Well, all the parts came in so here she is:

I'm not sure what to think of the front bevel...maybe it'll grow on me. Stippling is courtesy of Damato Custom Stippling. Will give a range report when I get the time. What do you guys think?
