Some Glock questions

In the market for a glock and this will be my first handgun. I have shot plenty of handguns in the past but have never owned one. I do own some rifles etc. So this is not my first GUN.

I want to get a glock because they are affordable and reliable. However im not sure which one i want but i narrowed it down to the 17, 19 or 21. I have shot the 17 and really liked the size and feel. Have handled the 19 on several occasions but not shot it. The 19 just felt too small and i could not fit my fingers into the grooves on the grip. The only reason i am considering the 19 is that my old lady really liked it and since i want it for home defense it makes since to get something we both can shoot. Also i assume that the 21 will feel similar to the 17. I have not shot a glock in 45 only in 9mm so i cannot say if id like the 21 better. But i do know it would fit right in my hand. So for home defense and my only range pistol and maybe some camping etc. wich would you choose?

Also, should i go used or new? These three guns are available both new and used at several locations near me as well as through local private partys. Is it better to get one in good shape with a few hundred rounds through her for $100 less? Or go BNIB for full price?

Just thought id get some opinions. Feel free to bash me because this post is mostly useless

The 21 and all the 45's (except the 36?) have a larger frame than the 9mm/.40. Not by much and for me they are perfect, but others feel they are too large.

Go find a range that has them as rentals and shoot them all.

About used if they are in good condition and a good deal go for it.

IF your Wife/Girlfriend really likes the 19 best, guess which choice is the one to make? You Need a gun that she is Comfortable with to start.. (where it goes from there will be Easier)..

you can always get a 19 and get extended base pads for the magazine for a bigger grip when youre shooting and use normal base pad mags for your lady

Has she shot the 19? My wife saw the 19 and 17 together and thought she wanted the 19 because it was smaller. Although it's negligible, there is slightly less recoil/flip with the 17 which turned out to be what my wife liked better when we shot both side by side.
As is always mentioned, take her to a range and shoot both; They are usually readily available at most of the ranges I've been to.

IMO 17/19 are the best first Glocks to obtain.

Girls usually prefer the 19 to the 17. 21s are too fat for my comfort for anyone.

I vote for the G17. I have one and a G21, and I'm a pretty good sized guy with large hands, the G21 feels A LOT bigger. My GF hates shooting it but loves the G17 so much she wants her own now.

Maybe try the G21sf? Definitely feels smaller in the hand.

I'd go with the 17. Have your old lady shoot the .45 and see if its something she would be comfortable with.

Surprisingly, one of my female friend who has small hands enjoys to Glock 17 to the Glock 19. Rent both and try 'em out with your old lady.

Can't speak for the G21, never fired one.

You can't go wrong with either! I personally have a G17 for comp and G23 for HD. You can probably compromise by going with a G19.

Go shoot the 17 & 19, and let her decide. Either should work fine for your purpose.

Yes i hear that but if i get a 19 she will want her own then im stuck with a 19 when i might f wanted a 17

Glock 17 is a great gun. I'd go for it and put on a new set of sights and a 3.5 connector and call it a day.

Yes she has shot the 19 and she loved it. I took her to a basic pistol class so she would feel more comfortable around my guns and to get the safety info about them. They had range time and she really liked the 19 she didnt shoot the 17 but did handle it a bit.

damn ur right 19 is probably best and ill just have to get used to it.

That Solves your problem, when she Wants the 19 give it to her AND buy yourself whatever you want.. That was the Original PLAN.......
