My dad is looking to sell his Springfield 1911 full rail TRP w/ bull barrel. It has some wear and tear but nothing out of the ordinary. He wants me to put it up on the marketplace I just don't know what a fair asking price would be so I'm looking to my Calguns brethren.

80% of whatever of the OTD cost for someone to buy it new it generally a decent start.

Selling to a close family member like his son would be $1.
That's what I do with my boy unless he catches me on a good day when I feel like discounting.
Seriously, nice weapon. If you think you will someday want it, cut him a deal.

If you don't want it, I'd check gunbroker because often times guns are over-priced there which puts them right about at fair trade in CA. For a used one that shows honest wear, I'd think you could get at least $1,700-$1,800 for it...just my $.02
