What is going on with Springfield Armory?

I've been looking at the Springfield XD .45 Compact for a while now, but I can't find any to save my life.

In the last 2 weeks, I've called about 50 different stores from San Diego to Ridgecrest, And all I get is the same line; "Good Luck".

Most of the folks I've talked to say they haven't gotten anything in from them in 3 weeks or more, while some of them told me they haven't seen anything from them in over 8 months!

One shop I spoke with today said when they talked with SA, they were basically told by SA that they was just not interested in making anything for CA, while there were 49 other states to sell to without any issues!

I can find Glocks in almost every store I go to, but have not found ONE XD!
You used to find them everywhere.

I spoke with SA directly, and they informed me that they were still filling backorders from 5 months ago. If that's the case, you would expect that at least SOME of these backorders would be from CA, but they just don't seem to be shipping anything here at all.

Has Springfield given up on us?

They are overloaded like just about everyone right now. You'll have to wait a little longer for things to ease up.

Wellmost springfields arent made in the us. They have to wait on shipments for oother countries, and who knows what kind of production they were running at, and if they could increase it or not.

I was at a LGS in Livermore and they had several Springfield XD models. Not in .45, but they had them. I'm finding more and more gun shops are having more stock on hand than in the last several months.

I've also been called a ton of places in SD county looking for a bitone xd9 and most places say they don't even any XD's and don't know when they will get more. My closest LGS said they have a huge order with Springfield but its been trickling in 1-2 guns every couple weeks.

Its a regular occurrence to not be able to find exactly what you are looking for for just about any manufacturer. About two years ago S&W had a big contract to someone and I couldnt find a M&P 9 for so long that I bought something else.

Dont believe everything someone in a gun store tells you...Despite what you might think CA is a huge market for guns.

SA's locally can be tough but I've done we'll with online sales. I've seen a fair number in the Bay Area now but no .45 C's. love mine btw

^^^ Saw a couple at the Shootist when I went to visit family. They actually had a lot of selection when I went last weekend.

You can always find it by looking through private sales forum within a week or less and will save a bit too if you do not mind buying a used one.

It's just a tough time for everyone still. Stay patient and you'll get one. Hope you find one soon. Good luck and happy 4th.
