    Goshen Hexagonal Aperture Sights

    Hi folks,

I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has personally used the Goshen HexSite system. Unlike traditional ghost rings it leverages how the subconscious brain naturally aligns the front sight to a convergence of imaginary lines extended from the points of a hexagon. Basically your brain will align front/rear sights automatically without thinking.

The neuro/ocular science behind this theory is sound but I want first hand accounts from people that have used them. Please do not turn this thread into a discussion about how you love tritium sights or why you think this is worthless. I don't have Glocks or I would just buy the $129 kit and test them myself.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I purchased the Goshen sight last year for my XD 9mm. I suffer from slight astigmatism and thought they might offer a better way to aim given my eye problems.

While I like the concept, I ended up not keeping the sights and went with HiViz signts.

    The problems I had....

    1. Had to send to him for install. Not a big deal but did add to the price.

    2. The front sight is just a post, and the method for aiming is to align the top of the post sight into the middle of the hex, like in the image below...

While that might seem simple, I *personally* had a harder time with it. A more experienced handgun shooter might do better.

I would probably have stuck with the sights if there was a visual queue for the front sight, like a simple dot or something. Something that would make it easier for me to align the front post into the hex.

I could have added a drop of yellow paint to the post but then I would have been aiming incorrectly to get the post at the center of the hex.

I think it's a good idea and if that front post just had a dot or something, I might have kept them. In hindsight, knowing more now, I probably could have purchased a dot sight that would have worked for me.

Appreciate the feedback. From the website it seems there is an option to have them cut an indentation into the front post to allow more light to glint off the surface from the target. I'm curious if you had that version.

Looks like you're aiming a rifle.

That's kinda what I was thinking.

naeco81 - If you're looking to acquire the front sight quick, consider dawson fibre optic

In MY opinion as an instructor, these sights tend to force your focal point to the hexagon and not the front sight.

They are designed to allow for quick shots during high stress situations. The design is meant for the shooter to simply raise the firearm to your eye and orient the hex over the target.

OP, I did have that little notch and it really did not do anything for my shooting.

Since moving off those sights, I have found that the bright HiViz sights have worked great for me when taking training classes.

Best of luck on what ever you choose!

They solved one problem of ghost ring sight, but this sight still doesn't address the side to side issue. Check out Advantage Tactical Sights or Speed Sights. I use and prefer the ATS sights.
