    Hard Chrome Recommendation

Considering HC for one of my pistols. Anybody have any comments about TechPlate in Anaheim? Like the fact their local but would appreciate any input about the quality of their work. Was considering Tripp but they're closing plating dept. next month!

Any referrals / recommendations greatly appreciated.

I have no experience with TeshPlate.

I've sent work to these guys in the past, and was very pleased with their work. http://apwcogan.com/

I believe that Tripp Research is closing up shop for their had chrome work.

Call them ASAP and see if you can get in before they stop accepting orders.

I had my Glock 27 slide hardchromed adter I sent it out and had it Mag-na Ported. Tech Plate did and I am very happy with it. 4000 rounds through it since and it still looks new. I will post pics tomorrow night.

I had a pistol hardchromed by them, maybe 15 years ago. They've been in the business a long time and know well what they are doing.

When the local shop (Martin B. Rettings) lost their finisher, I referred them to TechPlate. Been using them for years since.

They will do a good job for you....

I have had Techplate do a couple of CZ-75 frames for me, I am very pleased with the result, pricing and turnaround.

Several shooting buddies of mine have had their frames, slides, comps, etc done there.

I always gave them bare parts, and get the satin hardchrome, no polishing just bead blasting as the surface prep.

Thanks very much for the comments. I think I'll try them out on a Kimber frame (grip safety is MIM can it be hard chromed?) before I give them a complete Baer! Nothing like testing the water before you make the full commitment.

As LeeLaw said, they are no longer doing any chrome plating work.

Tripp Research listed 6/13/08 as the last date for their chroming operation... Don't know whether that means that is the last day they will "accept" new orders, or if they have already stopped taking in orders and will try to finish all current jobs before that date. Regardless, give them a buzz or email and see if they are still taking orders because the finished result will be worth it. Having your gun being one of the last guns finished by them may get you a little more value if you decide to sell it later on also.
