    Storing firearm

I recently purchased a glock for home defense/range use. I bought a little nightstand safe and then bought some pick and pluck foam. I opened the safe today and it looks like the slide is drying out, if that makes sense. Should I not store it in foam?

Did the safe come with no interior protection for your gun? I would tend to want something that would both protect and not absorb oil.

I haven't been able to shoot it yet. The place where I bought said to shoot it first then do all that after.

Strip it, clean, & lube it. You need to clean out the factory gue prior to shooting it. After shooting, clean, lube, and put it away (I would not store in foam) until next use.

You have to strip clean it then store it. I usually oil the body/slide to prevent corrosion. I also don't store it in a case. I leave them in a holster (kydex) to avoid any unnecessary bumps.

Put some desiccant in the case to get any moisture out

Any porous matter you line the interior with will draw oil from the handgun. It's a Glock ,don't sweat it . If youre worried about it drying out, take it out and wipe it down with an oil cloth occasionally.

Your guns should be like your girlfriend, nice and wet.

Wat? Have Glocks changed? They used to come with break-in lube that you are supposed to leave on and not oil it until all the break-in lube has been shot off.

OP, oil evaporates. Unless you store it in something that's airtight, the oil will evaporate off sooner or later.

They still do. It is a copper colored anti-seize compound. I shot my Glock 19 out of the box for 500 rounds before I decided to clean it or even lube it. I wanted to see if it worked out of the box with no added lube or cleaning for fun

It honestly does not matter either way, just as long as you do it once in a while.
