first handgun! glock 22c

jailed my first handgun after turning 21 bought a glock 22c any thing i should know about glocks?
any upgrades i should look into how many mags should i own? im also looking into obtaining my ccw where should i start? and how does the process work

Congratulations! Keep it stock and shoot it first before modding it. I love my stock Glock 22C, awesome light show coming from my stall at the range when it's there. Get as many mags as you can; helps with reloading and to continue having sustained fun at the range.

As for the LTC (CCW), you can start here at the San Joaquin thread of the Calguns LTC forum. Briefly browsing through, you might need to get a new Sheriff before anyone in San Joaquin County gets a LTC.

Very good gun, new sights stock Glock sights are crap. At least 5 mags, more if you can.

No need to add anything to it. Just shoot crap out of it. And like other have said, load up on mags. Congrats!

No changes yet. Have a total of at least 3 mags. If you can get more, do so. Shoot it a lot and then decide if any changes are needed. I would think night sights would be the only change, if any. And yeah, get lots of ammo for practice and HD. Enjoy.

When I bought my first glock, several people recommended this DVD to me: 'Make your Glock Rock, by T.R. Graham'. This is an excellent video covering everything you need to know about your Glock,
including performing a trigger job (affectionately known as the $.25 trigger job). You really get to know your glock's internals when you do one of these trigger jobs, and TR Graham explains the 'do's and don'ts'
very clearly, step-by-step. I do this to all my glocks automatically now. The DVD is a little expensive up front, but I can tell you that I have referred back to it many times over the years and it was money well spent.

Definitely recommended! Read the reviews on midway, buy on ebay:

ammo, mags and a nice cleaning kit if you dont have one yet

as far as mags go i like 3 for my range only guns and 5 or more for my guns that are used for self/home defense

Don't listen to the gear monkeys saying you need a trigger job

^^^ Yeah, a $.25 trigger job is bad because:

You have to buy a bunch of useless gear, and people will call you a gear monkey too.

It's because it makes the gun less reliable.

It's because it doesn't improve the trigger feel at all and actually makes the trigger worse.

No....

It's because a stock Glock is 'Perfection' and you shouldn't learn about how it works, or screw with it's internals.

I will also add... unless you are a trust-fund-baby, start budgeting now for an Advantage Arms 22LR Conversion Kit + extra mags. Otherwise, you're going to go broke buying .40 ammo.
The AA is considered to be the best .22LR kit available and there's plenty of online reviews. They're not easy to find and I've been searching for one for my Gen4 17 for quite a while.
Finally just got one off gunbroker 2 days ago. I was the high-bidder at $300 shipped. Comes with one mag. You can find extra mags for ~ $20 a piece.

Nice thing is, you don't need to go through an FFL (it's not considered a firearm). It can be shipped directly to you.

+1 on the extended mag release and slide stop. I prefer Vickers Tactical to the Glock's versions, but that's a personal choice.

I also recommend a TLR-1, but apparently I'm the only one that likes to see my target at night before blasting away at it.

dude to me a light is a must especially for my first hand gun its going to serve a HD role yes it does give your position away but id like to identify my target rather than shoot blindly down my hallways will post pics when i get it though

This is all subjective and your going to have to shoot it a lot and figure out what you like. To start buy as much ammo as you can afford and shoot it as often as you can. I prefer to leave the stock internals on my glocks and add night sights and an extended mag release if needed.
